In high school, Dean was building his own computers, and by 1997 the IBM veteran was inducted here. Dean, who started at IBM in 1980, holds three of the PC pioneer's original nine patents and has 20 patents total. Most recently, Dean led a team that developed this chip with near-limitless potential. He was also the first African-American to be appointed this honorable position at IBM.

His masterful work often mirrored his turbulent life and put the pains and crimes of his home country on display for all who read or saw his work. In 1986 Soyinka became the first African to be awarded this distinguished international award. He has authored 20 plays, seven novels and multiple collections of poetry. His work often takes on a political tone and has criticized not only the Nigerian government but also the Western influences on Nigerian culture. In 1967 Soyinka was accused of spying for this secessionist state of Nigeria and spent two years here.
