The profile of women in Tanzania's new cabinet has received a boost under President Jakaya Kikwete - who won 80% of the votes in December's elections. Female ministers have been appointed to the key finance and foreign posts for the first time.
The numbers of women ministers has also risen from four to seven and there are 10 female deputy ministers.
Several experienced hands that served under former President Benjamin Mkapa have been axed.
"This is a new government, with new goals and that is why we have several new faces. There are, however, several veterans around," Mr Kikwete told his first news conference since he was sworn-in last month.
The new finance minister is Zakia Meghji who was minister for natural resources and tourism.
Former minister for community development, gender and children Asha-Rose Migiro becomes the new foreign minister.
