SeekingMaat,
Please do not misunderstand, in no way am I challenging you are anyone else, just opening up the dialogue. Thank you for further explaining the Elder's point of view, I would never have known, had I not brought forward the research.
Also, the information concerning Halloween was brought forward. Do you see the connection between the two words?
Bottom-line, we will never put all of the pieces back together to this enigma! And neither should we try, in my view, lets come to acceptable terms, and move on, rightly or wrongly.

Greetings Clyde, I see that the thread has moved on somewhat, so I will be brief. As you are no doubt aware the English language is a hybrid language, its roots being in Latin, Germanic, French to a degree and notwithstanding the influence of Shakespeare in this common day language we speak. The English language is one that does not wholly carry one’s ‘intent’ and is open to being misconstrued, misunderstandings and misinterpretations because of its very roots.
The Hungarian example given is a very recent concept. There are several ‘theories’ as to the etymology of the word ‘hello’.
This being but one …
From Wordorigins.com:
"It is a variant of hallo, which dates to 1840 and is a cry of
surprise. That in turn is related to halloo , a cry to urge on hunting
dogs. Halloo dates to about 1700, but a variant, aloo, appears in
Shakespeare's King Lear a century earlier than that.
And there is an even earlier variant, hollo, which dates to at least
1588 when Shakespeare used it in Titus Andronicus. There are also
cognates in other Germanic languages."
The esteemed transited Elder who explained the word ‘hell o’ to me through Afrikan eyes, is someone whose explanation eye trust more than Wikipedia. As mentioned previously by Sister Destee, eye am not the first, nor will eye be the last to hold this view.
To each his own ….
Peace
