    Evergreen scents illuminate the room
    filled with toys under the pine tree as
    the sounds of Christmas play on the
    hand cranked wooden phonograph;

    I rest in front of the fireplace after
    adjusting the logs to increase the
    warmth and I lay my head back on
    the top of the chair to rest my eyes;

    She entered the room with a mug of
    warm apple cider and gently finds a
    place of comfort in my lap as I lift my
    head to sip from the aromatic libation;

    “Thank you” I gently speak as she looks
    to me with a smile and I lose my fingers
    in her hair hanging below the woolen
    covered shoulders of her sweater;

    I lay her head upon my shoulder as we
    slowly rock in the chair and watch the
    flames dance a dance of Yuletide joy to
    the sounds coming from the phonograph;

    I gently blow across the mug to cool the
    steam rising from the cider and hand it to
    her to enjoy a sip and quietly slips her
    arm around my waist and closes her eyes;

    I set our drink on the stand and wrap my
    arms around her as we slowly rock in the
    chair together experiencing the first days
    of the new season awaiting the snowfall.

    hibernating...

    'til the rush of the flow over takes you and you're forced to step away from the meadow for a minute...and spread some love to the family.

    thanks for stepping away from the tranqility for a moment...to share this PEACE of your world.
