In 1832, a sermon was given in the south entitled, The Religious
Instruction of the Negro. By 1906, Negro church followings increased
57.6 percent. Said another way, enslaved Afrikans were being transformed
into negro christians at alarmingly fast & successful rates. HOW TO MAKE A
NEGRO CHRISTIAN reprints the entire sermon, so you can read it for
yourself and adds highly critical commentary. Read about the exact plans
constructed by one Dr. Reverend Charles Colcock Jones to 'biblize' us-the
enslaved Afrikan population and take notice at what happens on sundays in
the majority of the Afrikan/Black communities today in 2007. Below are a
few choice quotes from the so-called 'Apostle of the Blacks.'

HOW TO MAKE A NEGRO CHRISTIAN
And having our plantations, the time and persons of our servants wholly
under our control, we can arrange the manner and frequency of our
instructions, as we please, and the period of these instructions with as
much punctuality, and with as little interruption, as we can arrange the
morning and evening devotions of our own fire-side. Our very children
might become, to some extent, teachers, by reading to them plain portions
of the Bible, or plain Tracts and things of such sort page 67

HOW TO MAKE A NEGRO CHRISTIAN
Will the authority of the Masters be weakened by instructions of this
sort? No, it will be strengthened. And we believe that their authority
can be strengthened and supported in this way only; for the duty of
obedience will never be felt and performed to the extent that we desire
it, unless we can bottom it on religious principle page 72

HOW TO MAKE A NEGRO CHRISTIAN
    It is a matter of astonishment, that there should be any objection at all;
for the duty of giving religious instruction to our Negroes, and the
benefits flowing from it, should be obvious to all. The benefits, we
conceive to be incalculably great, and [one] of them [is] there will be
greater subordination . . .amongst the Negroes. page 52

HOW TO MAKE A NEGRO CHRISTIAN
n order to induce a sense of guilt, [you] must charge upon the Negroes
those particular sins to which they are so much addicted, and expose their
enormity and consequent punishment in the world to come. page 55

HOW TO MAKE A NEGRO CHRISTIAN
[The matter of preaching to the Negroes should] deal much in parables,
historical events, miracles, lives of men holy and profane, as found in
the Bible, and the great and wonderful works of God: all in illustration
of doctrine and practice. He must reason much by illustration. And as the
great majority of them do not read, he should read and explain God's holy
word to them constantly, and as extensively as possible page 83

HOW TO MAKE A NEGRO CHRISTIAN
It becomes us to inquire, if, in the history of the world, any people have
ever been thoroughly christianized, without the employment of their own
agency to a large extent, in diffusing the gospel amongst themselves? I
know of no such people. page 86

HOW TO MAKE A NEGRO CHRISTIAN
Let them [the slave masters] invest a little capital in the minds and
hearts of their people [us Afrikans], and it will prove to all concerned,
a peace-giving and profitable investment for time and for eternity.
“. . . for time and for ETERNITY” page 102

In one of Chief Elders post, he talked about some people who seeked to
verify the authencity of the Wille Lynch speech. If memory serves me correct, they concluded their was no such speech and nowhere did a
Willie Lynch exsist at the supposed time this speech was said to be given.

Also, when trying to locate the person who had the book published, They couldn't obtain a name or resource. They say the time and dates just didn't match up. They suspect the person who published the book might have been Black and purposely trying to Outraged Black people to the point of motivation to make some changes.

I may have got some stuff wrong, so hold on, let me see if I can get a link, just in case I may be misquoting suff.

    Okay found it.http://www.destee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44528&highlight=Willie+Lynch

    What I always say is...

No matter whether the Letter is a Fabrication or not, the CONTENT, and INTENT of the Letter is right on point. Furthermore, the way I see it, the "fabricated" Willie Lynch themselves is as Powerful as we the victims of the "letter" are.

If we really cared about what some fabricated letter said or was about, we would Unify and REALLY prove that it is a fabrication, rather than 'intellectualize' over this piece of propaganda.

    I hear ya Brother KWABENA!

People are working to Unify and prove this letter wrong. Just look at the members who participate here.
Are we not working to bring us together and more consciously aware. A lot of this brainwashing has been
deeply embedded in us. It's gonna take awhile to bring these emotions and thoughts back up to surface.
Knowing who, what, when, where, why, can jumpstart alot of folks to thinking, wondering, and reversing
    the damage done.

So did the chicken come before the egg?

What I'm saying is, did Black People disunify before the publishing of this letter, or was it after someone told us this is what happened and why we are this way? People have a tendency to believe what another says about them, then from these belief act accordingly. Even if it was/is a lie.

In the 50's and 60's, it is my understanding Black People was nothing like what this letter implies. My question is, how much damage did the publication of this letter caused? Or was the damage already in place? Also if the intent of the letter was to enrage and/or further divide us, why didn't we catch on?

Chief Osiris writes: Remember I told you a while back that I had a inner thought that willie lynch is a black person, well I am almost certain of it, so in term of willie lynch being white, yes it is an urban myth, but as I say, pay attention to what is being said in the name of willie lynch because the information of claim about Black people, such is no myth.

Whomever indited and disseminatd this sermon was a day late and a dollar short, that is, if it truly surfaced in the early 90's as rumor has it. You posed a very provoking question: "Why didn't we catch on?" I think a bulk of us do actually catch on; however, when any conscious-raising is eructed or enacted to benefit BP, the most subtle tactics are employed to further disunify US. Intercommunication vehicles such as Black-oriented discussion forums are flooded with antis and trolls to disrupt. Hmmm, I'd need a glimpse at a 'Black socio- political timeline' in order to conduct a 'case study' to determine whether or not ideals such as the Willie Lynch letter had much of an effect on those whom it incriminated, at any given time.

    Thank goodness for the internet!

Chief osiris writes: The letter statement is not one of propaganda, but one of an observation of an attitude and behavior of Black people who have been conditioned to act and behave as we do.

This sort of behavior being described by the letter is pointing out our attitude and behavior that has become a part of our Mentality after our fall and theirony is that we do not seem to have a desire to change our present Mindset that have us behaving as we do, yet we pretend as if black folks are changing, no their not, because the Real and Majority of black people still do not know that there is something different from what they have been made to look at to change to, meaning they have yet to have the Divine Truth to be exposed to them.

There is no way we can deny the cruelty that has been done to our people.
But Dear Chief Elder, couldn't someone observe the outcome and draw
    their own conclusion of why?

What I've read and learned about my Ancestors, I see some very strong
willed people. Even after all the pain and suffering they remained hopeful. They've set out to right the wrongs. They'd helped one another. When did this disunity explode and spread throughout the Black communities?

When I was a child people was still caring and supporting one another. Children were still raised by the community. From my observation, the community began to fall apart when cocaine became the new get rich
scheme. I'm sure there were some Ancestors who weakend and crumbled under the whip, nooses, church burning, and so on, but they still recognized who the real enemy was.

In this day and time we look upon each other as the enemy. After all those years of abuse, why have we fallen apart now? Considering it didn't make us fall apart then?

As a child growing up, did you see this dsyfunction in the community then? Lack of respect for adults? Lack of respect for children? People looking to do harm to you because you are a lighter black? People killing each other in the streets left and right? Women putting down the Black man? Men putting down the Black Woman?

No my Dear Elder, I don't doubt the cruelty nor the effect it may have had on my Beautiful Loving Ancestors.

However I'm having doubts of the observation and the reasonings given for this present condition of our people. I believe in my heart the distribution of drugs in our communities was the final blow which brought us to a fold.

Cocaine being a mind altering drug, corrupted and weakend the thinking of my people. Before then, they were Spiritual strong, morally conscious, and together for a cause. Phew, if we could get the drugs out of our communities, I envision a miraculous turn around.

What was the community like when you was younger? Was it in shambles then? Perhaps the quiet kept secrets caused me to see something different.

Well, when I was a kid the seeds for what's going on now were being planted. I had so many friends in single parent homes that it never even occured to me to miss having a father or that a father was something I was supposed to have. There were many forces to bring us to where we are

Cocaine, like you said, and heroin
Integration allowed racism to operate undercover so we became confused about who our real enemy is
Welfare made it easier for our women to support themselves and their children if there was no man in the house
The criminalization of drug use sent many of our men to prison
Black folks following white folks to the suburbs deprived our communities of the so called upstanding citizens and left the rif raf and those who for economic reasons fell through the cracks

I'm sure you can add to this list
