China expresses concern over alleged exchange of fire between DPRK, ROK

    English.news.cn 2010-11-23 15:25:05 FeedbackPrintRSS

BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said China had taken note of reports about an exchange of fire between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Tuesday, urging related sides to do things conducive to peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.

"We have noticed related reports and are concerned about the issue. The real situation needs to be confirmed," said spokesman Hong Lei at a regular briefing Tuesday in Beijing.

"We hope related parties do things conducive to peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula," Hong said.

The spokesman also urged the parties concerned to keep calm and restraint, and to make joint efforts for the peace and stability on the peninsula.

Some shells landed Tuesday afternoon on the ROK's Yeonpyeong Island where some 600 households live, at least two marines were killed, and 16 soldiers injured, according to the ROK military officials.

They said the Democratic People's Republic of Korea fired scores of artillery onto the island and into waters off the west coast of the divided peninsula, prompting a return fire.

ROK President Lee Myung-bak convened an emergency meeting shortly after the exchanges of fire, cautioning against a possible escalation of the situation.

Probably and more then likely no longer a conspiracy theory,

to acknowledge that the ultra rich or as the NOGE say ,
    the 10%
are desirous of rapid populaion reduction, and the Chinese are as well.

Many have read the Georgia guide stones, seen the murals in the Denver Colorado airport,

and heard and seen on yutube, the interview with movie producer Aaron Russo, where he talks about his meeting with one of the Rockeffellors and thier deisre to depopulate the planet by any means necessary

we know well that those in Washington and the top heads at Wall street have underground compounds almost the size of small cities, where they could live out the fall out from nuclear war

and like the scenario in Dr Strangelove, and the Watchmen, not give a hoot or a holler if millions of black folks went up in vapor in DC, NYC, Chicago, Phillie and LA

Stop the War on the Korean Peninsula: US-South Korea War Games Could Lead to an All Out War

    By Mike Whitney

    Global Research, December 19, 2010

Obama has 24 hours to stop a war from breaking out on the Korean peninsula

Realizing that its plan to intimidate North Korea has backfired and brought the peninsula to the brink of war, the Obama administration is now looking for ways to ease tensions. But South Korea's tough-talking President Lee Myung-bak has not been deterred and plans to go ahead with the controversial artillery tests on Yeonpyeong Island on Monday or Tuesday. The North has warned that if the drills proceed, then they will retaliate with a second and third "self-defense counterattack....that would be deadlier than the strike on Nov. 23."

The State Department has defended Seoul's plan to conduct the artillery operations saying, "A country has every right to train and exercise its military in its own self defense", but the administration is worried that a flare up of hostilities will quickly escalate into a full-blown conflagration. So, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson has been dispatched to Pyongyang along with Wolf Blitzer and a team from CNN to (presumably) offer Kim Jong il inducements to back down. So far, there is no indication that Richardson is making progress in his mission, which the State Dept (absurdly) describes as a "personal trip". Needless to say, the New Mexico governor has not gone to North Korea to work on his tan. He's there because Washington has no other way to throw water on the blaze that it created with its provocative joint military operations.

Blitzer's role in the fracas is to invent a narrative that will divert public attention from the crisis that Obama's lieutenants created. It's CNN's job to show that the North is "giving in" when in fact it is the Obama team that is back-peddling as fast as possible, even to the point of breaking it's word on bilateral negotiations. Richardson's appearance in Pyongyang is proof that bilateral negotiations are taking place right now. This is from the Korea Times:

"Bill Richardson, the New Mexico governor who is currently visiting North Korea, reportedly made some proposals to North Korea, amid high tensions on the Korean Peninsula as South Korea plans a live-fire drill.

According to CNN, Richardson met with North Korea’s top nuclear negotiator Kim Kye-gwan for one and a half hours and said he would expect the current tension would lessen if his proposals are accepted by North Korea, Yonhap said.

Richardson didn’t disclose what the “proposals” were..." (Korea Times)

"Proposals"? What sort of proposals is Richardson offering on his "personal trip"? The State Dept. is lying about Richardson's role which is clearly official. Richardson is trusted by Pyongyang because he worked on Clinton-era negotiations for the "Agreed Framework", the seminal US/North Korea bargain which the US stubbornly refuses to honor. This is the crux of the matter---the US will not fulfill its obligations under the terms of the deal.

As for Blitzer: Here's an excerpt from a CNN article on Sunday which demonstrates Wolf's prodigious abilities as state propagandist:

"Pyongyang, North Korea (CNN) -- A top North Korean general offered Sunday to help return the remains of several hundred U.S. troops killed during the Korean War, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said.

Maj. Gen. Pak Rim Su told Richardson that the bodies were discovered recently in North Korea.

Richardson, who is meeting with officials in North Korea to help ease tensions in the region, described the offer as a "very positive gesture." (CNN)

The North hasn't softened its position at all. This story is pure diversionary fluff. CNN is merely trying to spin the story to save face for Obama.

Meanwhile, the North has deployed additional troops to the west coast in preparation for the drills which will take place on Monday or Tuesday. The military is on high alert.

This is from another CNN report:

"A North Korean spokesman over the weekend said that the planned military exercises were a "sinister design" to violate the Korea Armistice Agreement and "ignite war at any cost."

"The shelling to be perpetrated by the puppet forces of south Korea at last, trespassing on the prohibiting line would make it impossible to prevent the situation on the Korean Peninsula from exploding and escape its ensuing disaster"....

North Korea blamed the United States for allegedly egging on the South Koreans. (CNN)

The US has repeatedly bullied the North with sanctions, added them to the State Dept's list of terrorists, forced them from the Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), disparaged them to the world as a member of the "axis of evil", and threatened them with regime change. But now that North and South are sliding inexorably towards war, Washington has done a quick about-face and is looking to the United Nations Security Council to bail them out. Surely, Kim must know that the UN is just another stick that Uncle Sam uses to beat his enemies.

South Korea readies major military drill near tense border

    By Agence France-Presse
    Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010 -- 8:24 am

SEOUL — South Korea on Wednesday prepared for a major show of military strength involving fighter jets and tanks near the tense North Korean border as Washington ruled out "feel-good" talks with Pyongyang.

The live-fire exercise, planned for Thursday with self-propelled guns and 800 soldiers, follows signs of an easing of tensions on the peninsula after the North backed down from a threat to retaliate against an earlier drill.

Although similar exercises have been held at the same firing range 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of the mainland border many times before, the latest comes with Seoul on high alert for a possible attack from the North.

South Korea's navy meanwhile began a four-day firing drill Wednesday off the east coast, a relatively distant 100 kilometres (60 miles) south of the border with the North, mobilising six warships plus helicopters.

Observers said South Korea's conservative government sees flexing its military muscles as a necessary deterrent against

Minister Kim Yong Chun repeated Pyongyang's charge that the South had been preparing to start a war by conducting live-fire drills off the west coast, speaking at a rally to mark leader Kim Jong Il's rise to the country's top military post 19 years ago.

He was quoted by North Korea's KCNA news agency which regularly threatens the South, but which had up to now been relatively restrained in its criticism of the military drills.

"To counter the enemy's intentional drive to push the situation to the brink of war, our revolutionary forces are making preparations to begin a holy war at any moment necessary based on nuclear deterrent," KCNA quoted Kim as telling the rally in Pyongyang.

His remarks came shortly after South Korean fighter jets dropped bombs and tanks fired artillery in the South's largest air and ground firing drills of the year — a month after North Korea's deadly shelling of a front-line island. The thundering display of force came as President Lee Myung-bak visited with soldiers at a base near the border.

when an aetheist nation is talking about waging a holy war,
then one realizes what level of madness thingshave reduced to

Clinton had established relations with north korea, a somewhat form od detente, families across North and South were permitted visiting rights, and cultural exchanges were established but more importantly

    the oil factor

recalling the US blocade of Japanese oil that led to the war,
Clinton took the intelligent move of attempting to assist North Korea in drilling it's own off shore resources,

but along came this idoit after him, you know the nut that said
"I am a War prsident, I make decisions with War on my mind"

and all of a sudden without any provocation from NK,

W called North Korea, an axis of evil and all that progess was destroyed and things have gone expoentialy down hill since then

    The post clearly states that

the ones who are crazy in this affair are W

and South Korea for provoking bullmess

but one has to wonder why would the head of any nation, make a Mel Brooks joke statement

An aetheist nation declaring a holy war?

Do you feel that sisters and brothers should be dragged into this since the possibility of a draft,
tossed around in Washington a minute ago may become a reality over this?

In all honesty and fairness in the art of conversation it would be best for some of us to discuss things in a chat where we can talk or debate face to face instead of posting on a persons post when they are not logged on, and then dissapearing somehwere after making a comment or when asked a question
