Nineteen Eighty-Four, sometimes published as 1984, is a dystopian novel by George Orwell published in 1949.[1][2] The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public mind control, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or, in the government's invented language, Newspeak, called Ingsoc) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as "thoughtcrimes".[3]

Back in late October/early November 2010 I had joined Global Investigative Journalists Network, being among 144 journalists from 39 countries signing a statement of support for Wikileaks.

And more recently, of course, I further support the actions of Pvt. Bradley (now Chelsea) Manning and Edward Snowden.

That, of course, puts me at odds with the majority of the corporate-controlled American press who faithfully regurgitate and feeds to us the many distortions coming from Congress, NSA, CIA, the Pentagon and other government double-speak. Yeah, I have issues with the White House, too, who I voted for both times. But that's for a separate discussion.

I dug back a little and found this piece dated Jan. 31 from BrasscheckTV about Wikileaks. It's almost 1-hour long, but worth watching when you have the time:

Just two years ago, WikiLeaks dominated
    the news.

Now that massive treasure trove of
    information about how the federal
    government really works has been
    relegated to the dustbin.

    Not so fast...

Video: you'll need to pull together, copy, paste to your
browser since, being new here, I cannot post the real link.

European propaganda at it's best! I'd forgotten that a black man invented the automobile.

How Russia Often Benefits When Julian Assange Reveals the West’s Secrets
American officials say Mr. Assange and WikiLeaks probably have no direct ties to Russian intelligence services. But the agendas of WikiLeaks and the Kremlin have often dovetailed.

By JO BECKER, STEVEN ERLANGER and ERIC SCHMITT
    AUG. 31, 2016

Julian Assange was in classic didactic form, holding forth on the topic that consumes him — the perfidy of big government and especially of the United States.

Mr. Assange, the editor of WikiLeaks, rose to global fame in 2010 for releasing huge caches of highly classified American government communications that exposed the underbelly of its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and its sometimes cynical diplomatic maneuvering around the world. But in a televised interview last September, it was clear that he still had plenty to say about “The World According to US Empire,” the subtitle of his latest book, “The WikiLeaks Files.”

Response to New York Times article on WikiLeaks

Response to New York Times article published Thursday 'How Russia Often Benefits When Julian Assange Reveals the West's Secrets' [http://archive.is/my52v]

The New York Times Editorial Board has endorsed Hillary Clinton, however this is not disclosed in the article. The lead author, Jo Becker last retweeted Hillary Clinton (a smiling and dancing animated Hillary Clinton), on March 3.

The only hard news in the article is that "American officials say Mr. Assange and WikiLeaks probably have no direct ties to Russian intelligence services."

WikiLeaks has published more than 650,000 documents about Russian & president Putin, most of which is critical. See https://search.wikileaks.org/

It is false that Russia issued a visa for Julian Assange.
