Black People Politics : Why we should abandon the Democratic Party

Agreeable up to the end. African people continue to conceive that a European party is or will be in their interest.

It's written even in how we label ourselves: "Responsible Capitalism" and "Anarcho-Capitalism."

The tomfoolery of Europeans thoroughly corrupted us, to the point where we identify with European scholarship and denominations.

Yet, we don't have to!

Two years ago, other Africans and I were struggling to make the first official African political party in America. Unfortunately, the NYPD counts the votes in New York (ridiculous, right?) so though we collected the most signatures all over New York State, we were reported as having the least amount of votes. The name of the party was "The Freedom Party."

However, this here is the solution, because a political party in and of itself has leverage.

What's important to understand about political parties is that they appoint the judges. This means that the unfair judges with their extended racist prison sentences are DEMOCRATS.

THIS IS ENOUGH SAID.

Put Freedom Party on the ballot
Simple justice demands that every activist should support the Freedom Party. The Democratic Party’s all-white slate is a capitulation to the Tea Party bigots.

By running an African-American man, an African-American woman and a Puerto Rican man on its ticket, the Freedom Party stands for equality. It reaffirms the “Great Alliance” of the Latino/a and Black communities that built the Local 1199 hospital workers’ union (now affiliated with the Service Employees) and won “open admissions” at the City University of New York.

The Freedom Party is a break from the imperialist Democratic Party that politically strangles poor and working people. Top labor leaders avoid any real struggle against unemployment by pouring union money into Democratic congressional candidate coffers.

As we know we live in a two party system. That is the reality. So unfortunately and realistically we must work within that system. My gripe is that we marginalize ourselves within that system. If there was a viable 3rd, 4th etc. party I would be all for that.

Capitalism & Socialism are of themselves not evil, but it's the human element that corrupts both wherever they are implemented. When I say responsible capitalism, you can gather that I do agree with capitalism in general as well as free trade as long as all parties I'm trading with have equally free trade. Capitalism becomes irresponsible when we allow Corporations to buy influence with politicians! That is the biggest problem for me.

Real socialism hasn't worked anywhere it was tried so that is out of the question as far as I'm concerned.

This is the second of my controversial posts :)

Now before you pull out the knifes & daggers hear me out.

I believe I have a good neutral perspective on US politics. When I first came here I was 26 years old so I wasn't automatically "married" to one party. I'm now 40.

I remember watching a documentary about Dr Martin Luther King where he was asked to which political party he belonged, and his answer was, I don't belong to any party, they have to earn my vote(not an exact quote but paraphrasing)

This day, the Democrat party doesn't have to do anything to earn our vote and they DON'T! Our vote is rendered virtually powerless.

In case you are wondering if I think we should all be republicans, the answer is no! I believe that we are best served if we are Independent and register as such!

The problem:

The policies of the democrats have hurt us the most.
1. The beginning of the welfare system was the beginning of the end of the black family. If you were to put a graph side by side with the start of welfare you will see the decline of the black family starting as well.

Yes welfare is needed as a safety net but not indefinitely! It is easy for humans to settle with just getting by, and thereby robbing him of his strive for excellence which is natural. Where before welfare we were more inclined to rely on the extended family, welfare has taken that need away.

2. This is the most damaging IMHO. We have in our neighborhoods the WORST performing schools on average in America. The reason is not that we are stupid, but the worst teachers are being shuffled down to our school districts.
Why does this happen? The teachers Unions simply does not fire inadequate teachers, it keeps them in the system not because it "loves" the teachers so much, but because they love the Union Dues they receive! And guess which party they BUY with that money.
So in affect whether or not it's intentional they are creating a permanent underclass among blacks!
And when the failing test scores(their performance) become too much they simply lower the test standards, which only helps the Teachers Unions.

I have heard it from various sources that this, education reform is the civil rights of our time, and I agree.

Now lets look at the term racism in the context of what I just stated. Is that not racist, that an organization has no compunctions about NOT educating African Americans properly?

3. Planned parenthood. An organization supported by African Americans. An organization that was founded white supremacists from the Eugenics movement. Margaret Sanger was the founder.

Now. We have rendered ourselves powerless by automatically giving our vote to one party, without their need to meet any of our demands! All they have to do is give us a few pieces of bread it seems and we're happy to allow them to continue to marginalize us. Do you realize that the democrats owe their very survival to the African Americans? And if you're not careful the Hispanics will take that place as they are becoming more numerous.

The solution

IF we were independent than they would have to meet our demands.

BTW. How many of you would NOT vote for a republican even if you knew that the candidate's policies would truly help our brothers and sisters especially in the basic education department? If that thought turns you off why is that? Is it maybe because the divide and conquer strategy has once again worked to our disadvantage as it has so many time throughout our history?

So my point is that we should become true independent and take our power(which is our vote)back! Let either party earn our vote.

In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......Not now Aluku, lets wait until after this second term of President Obama is secured, then we may have no choice but to leave the Democrats in 2016; for real - straight talk...

Peace In,

Real socialism hasn't worked anywhere it was tried so that is out of the question as far as I'm concerned.

It's a two party system for Presidency, but Congress people can realistically be of a different party; and City Council people, Governors and Mayors can definitely be of a different party. In fact, there have been other parties represented in Congress, who caucused with one of the two parties.

The truth is that NYC has a tremendous budget that goes through the City Council, but because we refuse to step out of the Democratic web, we can not control that budget. $60 billion is our city budget yet African people in total get at most $50 million.

It's a two party system because we resign for it to be. It's really a multi-party system which we can take advantage of by supporting our own political party.

As to the socialism/capitalism dichotomy it's false. Especially considering that "Socialism" is supposed to be an outgrowth of "Capitalism." Meaning, it's an artificial dichotomy but a sociological "progression."

Relying on European terminologies is one of the failures of African movements. False dichotomies won't advance a people.
