The presidency cannot be won by a simple majority. The winner needs 270 electoral votes. If no candidate gets 270, the election is thrown into the House of Representatives, as dictated by the 12 amendment. That means, even if Obama has more votes than Romney, if he doesn't reach 270, the House will decide and we know who they will vote for. A vote for anyone but Obama is a vote for Romney. All this talk about voting your conscience or protest voting is sheer ignorance.

So, what you are saying us that those of us for whatever reasons choose not to vote for the candidate of YOUR choice is "ignorant",

Those who vote for Green party, Peace and Freedom party, or other parties not affiliated with the two main parties are "ignorant" because the choose to vote as registered "independents"?

Sounds more like dictatorship than democracy, so even though I was considering the possibility if voting for the selected incumbent you have helped me to decide to remain "ignorant" which in my estimation is the lesser evil because voting again for YOUR candidate would amount to hypocrisy.

    Brotha Omo,

I can't believe you are actually accusing me of telling folks to vote for MY candidate. You KNOW that is NOT what I am saying.

I did not create this stupid system where a candidate can't win with a simple majority. I am trying to let people know how the system works and whether i or they or anybody else likes it or not, if Obama doesn't win the 270 electoral votes, the election WILL go to the House and we know who they will vote for. Ignorance simply means not knowling something. We are all ignorant about something, unless you are God and know everything about everything.

The Dems and Reps are the only candidates on the ballot in every state. I don't even know if a state has an electoral college for a candidate who's not on that states ballot.

You can choose to vote for whoever you like, but you can't choose the consequences of that vote.

Whatever it's called, however it's defined I don't give a spit. I only care about results and neither candidate will serve the best interests of Afrikan people, at home or in the Diaspora.

In California there are always more than two candidates on the ballot. Just ask Cynthia McKinney.

The Electoral College was designed to reduce the power of the majority.

Slavery had influence on the design of the Electoral College:

Slavery had an influence on the history and development of taxation in the United States as well.
