overly submissive

“Simp" is a slang term used to describe a person who is perceived as overly submissive or even desperate for the attention or affection of someone without receiving anything in return.

We're giving our power away to the Democrats without getting anything in return. That's like a woman giving you some love for a week back in high school and for the rest of your life you let her walk all over you. Or if you're a woman, how much do you respect yourself if a dude put it down for a week in high school and for the rest of your life you cook and clean for this man without getting anything in return?

For real?

I may not want to date the other party but I'm down with OPP until they learn how to treat me. We're like an abused wife who wont leave her husband and makes excuses for why he doesn't do anything to help her. And then morons like Candice Owens mistake what they gain personally from being sellouts as being what the Republican party will do for black people if we switch. NO. They're simply being used because we would be foolish to think that the RNC doesn't want our votes. That's why they promote black Republicans. There have even been black Republicans to run for president. Why would they even let them get that far when they're obviously still using the Southern Strategy? It's because they wouldn't need to rely on the Southern Strategy if they could somehow convince black people to do for them what we're doing for the Democrats. That's exactly how it was before when we switched parties. The Democrats were the ones with all the racists. But their party still offered us enough that we decided it was in our best interest to switch. And we did. And the racists left the Democrats and the Republicans picked them up because we left.

What's that mean?

Logically, it means that the party we were voting with before (Republicans) had enough racists even while we were with them, that they didn't mind working with Southern racists after we left. They (Republicans) felt like they had already done enough for us. Now the tables have turned. Democrats feel like they've done enough for us. It's only now that they're looking at our disproportionate wealth and pretending like it's a new situation that they need to do research in order to come up with policies to address it. Folks... that's BS. THEY (white liberals) need to do "research"? Hello?! We've know about our economic issues the whole time. So they either weren't listening or they didn't care. And the real reason isn't because suddenly sleepy Joe woke up and realized black people have issues. The reason is because the DNC is seeing black people starting to vote Republican.

How many years did it take for the DNC to put up a serious black contender to be president? How many years did it take them to even support a white woman for the office? And once they do that (identity politics) what we don't see is that they use that to say "Look what we did for you! We [gave] you a black president!" I'm not going to lie. That was something. It was something just like Black Panther was something. It meant something to see us in that position. However... equating that to policy... or to reparations... it's not enough. Representation is the least they can do. They're so slow about change that even Republicans are saying "here's what we can do for black people". And it might be some BS but then I would expect our main ally to give us a plan that's not BS. They're our ally, right? We've already established a long history of helping them win. What more can we do for them? I've even donated money to their campaigns. What more can I do? And with all I've done what do we have to show for it? Shouldn't the burden of the best plan be on the DNC? After all this time? They don't have a good plan? They have to do research?

That's why I'm saying the DNC winning isn't exactly in our best interest. If it's against Trump it's in everyone's interest to stop Trump from being president. It's in everyone's interest to stop Ron DeSantis from ever being president. But other than those 2... I've lived through both Bushes and Reagan. We survived. We will always survive. So I'm not scared of a Michael Steele or even a Herman Cain. We could have backed one of them if we just wanted a black president. So the DNC needs to give us more. And it owes us more for the votes we've already given it.

Imagine if we said **** both parties. We're going to vote for anyone black. Period. Because anyone who is black has lived a black experience. And they will be more likely than a Clinton to do things that will positively effect the lives of other black people. What will happen then? Just think about it and let me know in this thread what you think would happen? What would both parties do? Or what if we adopted some other strategy that I haven't thought of? What's your strategy for actually getting what we want out of politics? What's your strategy for holding elected officials accountable for actually representing us and our interests?

Why don't we have power?

Because we give it away for free. Isn't that a slave?

I have to admit I find it humorous someone trying to teach a kinda cliff notes version of history to those of us born before Jim Crow was a serious discussion anywhere but within the community. Those of us that were in our teens before our moms could sit down for a cup of coffee at the Woolworths counter. Those of us who's parent always took the long way around to get from point a to point b. Those of us who grew up in homes that always had at lest one shotgun (loaded) in handy closet or by the door and if money was available a revolver in the bed side table drawer. Hell my grandfather kept three shotguns at his farm stead, front door, back door and bedroom. And when he died in the 80's slept with a revolver close at hand.
I find it humorous that someone wants to teach us history when before we were draft age that some how LBJ (rest his soul) pulled a kind of reincarnated version of a Huey Long and twisted enough arms to eke across the line......just so our moms and dads could vote.
Someone trying to tell us history bout those of us that still keep our berets and leather coats in our closets or safely packed away.

Yeh I find it kinda humorous.
And yet very very sad.
