I know why the foster care system is full of our children. I know about the
weapons formed against us.. there are plenty of threads on this site and others
about just that. This thread is not about that.. This thread is about us. About
our reaction to the discharge of those weapons. it's about why our children
stay there in that system.. it's about why they aren't taken in and cared for by
those that are able. Why aren't they also willing?

Why don't black families on any large scale take in our children?

I've been told once upon a time from persons familiar with the system that they/we do. Apparently, one of four major issues are (or have) occurring:

1. There have been deliberate efforts to shift Black children out of Black (positive) homes both to assimilate them and to keep money in the system.

2. There are colorist black folks who go in only selecting light/mixed children to care for/adopt. Naturally, who will get left behind in that?

3. There are Black folks who DO take in Black children and care for them well, so you have to be careful that the statistics/info. you get is not just the typical, 'we hate and reject us' propaganda.

4. There are black folks who do it solely for the money, so many wind up back in there perhaps more often than need be.
