I always wanted to ask a women who writes poems this question, and I'm being serious when I ask this.I try to get a feel for people's psyche

How come every women who writes poetry, how come her poems are always centered around this "poor me" pity me" oh please, help me, I'm in pain type of stuff. Always whining, crying and complaining. What's that all about because I always wanted to know.

    Peace,

if you change that "every woman" to "so many women", you can save about 3 pages of back and forth about not every woman's poetry being that way..

But to answer your question.. many people express through poetry, things that they don't feel able.. or comfortable.. expressing in other modes. That said.. I don't know of too many "poor me/pity me" poems here on destee. That might just be the feelings you feel when you process whats said. You might just be projecting your understanding then reading the reflected projection as their intentions.

But.. poetry is Art.. and the truth is.. their are very very many women in poor and pitiful conditions.. physically.. socially.. emotionally.. .. etc. And so it stands to reason that a good portion of women's art would reflect and/or combat that reality.. directly or indirectly.

    - Peace again.

95% of poems you hear black women recite, rather on destee or off, it's always whining and complaining, but it's like AIMLESS complaining, and you'll be thinking what the hell is she talking about.

A peoples art is a window into their condition. And the condition of the women is the truest indicator of the condition of a whole people.

So..with that.. using your line of thought.. the question then becomes:

What is going on in the lives of black women that so much of their art consists of pleas for sympathy?

The sun shines on me but I cry because I want the moon, the moon shines on me but I cry because I want rain, the rain pours down on me but it won't heal my pain. My tears flow harder then the rain, but my pain can't be washed away in the rain. :10800:

What do you all think about my "poem"
