The Front Porch : Why do people dislike reading history?

Yep -- I sure did Bro K!

sigh

Just because someone writes a book saying, 2 + 2 = 6, doesn't make it true

..

My observation:
Blacks folks' do read.
However, quite little in the way of history.

Know a guy who sales books in his store,
who at one time had a lot of history and
non-fiction books dealing with social and
political issues that occupied some 3/4th
of his walls. The rest was sex novels, gossip
magazines and religious inspiration books, the
likes of a jakes and vanzant.

As time went on, the history/social and political
books began to lose space to the other books
more and more. Mostly the sex novels. Market
forces dictated that shift.

I have seen for sometime a pandemic of what I
would call mal-literacy. That people read too much
junk, well beyond moderation. Not good for you.
