on the current state of the black community? In an age of "keep it real" it seems the "realest" of them all is not embraced. My opinion is because he's saying things about us that we KNOW are correct, we just choose not to face and change them.

IMHO, it is because many Black people see him as a hypocrite of sorts. He spent so much time portraying the image of a devoted family man, that when those affairs came up (with nonblack women in particular), I'm not sure how much of his credibility he retained.

He's credibility didn't change IMO. He's a human being who screwed up, like all of us. He never claimed perfection and there is not a single one of us without skeletons in our closet of some sort. If not Cos then who CAN call us out and hold us accountable for our actions? It still doesn't make what he said any less true.

It was you who posed the question...I just offered my take. I don't think this is about people looking for perfection, but generally folks don't often take kindly to being beaten over the head with advice by those who've yet to acknowledge their own flaws. ...just sayin'.

I understand that and thanks for your input.

I just believe that we all have our issues but when someone is trying to help us we should at least listen without getting defensive.

Number one Bil Cosby is an educator who made his millions by being a comedian
Dick Gregory was a comedian but made his millions by helping millions improve thier health

Bill Cosby is an educator but not an expert in psychology, so when he tries to dress up as an elder and do rap with a young rap group, to influence the youth towards righteous behavior, folks regard him as looking foolish.

The real analysis of Dr William Cosby is that , this is aman who has walked and talked with the top Black leaders and millionaires here and in the Carribbean for 40 years,
and has come to the level of extreme frustration, after watching them haave their little pet agendas, and not unify their energies, or resources for the good of the race,
so he tells the Black public
"Well Folks you are on your own and you will more then likely have to do it yourself"

An understandable expression of exasperation , however what is it from Cosby are we really concentrting upon?

    You Kids better talk right!!!
You kids better go to school!!!!
You kids better stop akkin Ugly!!!!

Fine that is one line of rhetoric

But how many here are aware of his radicalism?

Here in NYC , a program comes today and every Sunday on 98.7 FM KISS radio called "The Open Line" at 10 AM,
    http://www.987kissfm.com/OpenLine/
    and about 2 years ago I heard this guy on the radio saying;
" And you know what these criminals are doing to these schools, man the parents need to get out i the streets, people should be ready to fill the jails if need be"

And I was like, who is this cat?
    the commentator said
"More from Dr Cosby after this"

The man has money, he may not be right in his approach, because the NOI understood that you cannot brow beat or kick a perspon into righteous behavior, and self civilization
The man's heart is in the right place

The man has a doctorate in Education and is known all over the world

Therefore IMHO, he would as most if not all, scholars, speech makers, elders, and teachers, would serve best on a think tank,
specifically dealing with the national upliftment of the Black child

    1. It is my opinion that many of those that disagree with Mr. Cosby arent black (read colored/neegro)

    2. Are upset because he struck a nerve by exposing their short comings

    Sigh

    :fyi:

Blackness was defined long before you, I, Cosby or any of those in your amen cult were born. So to be black is to agree with them and follow their lead. If you arent doing that, NO, you arent black.

Agree with me or not. You cant go against them

    Put up, or shut up!

    Good question.

I, for one, just don't understand why Bill made the statements he did about the state of our communities.
