    I'd like to tell you
    you were the wind
    beneath my wings

but I learned to fly on my own

    I'd like to tell you
    you were the rock
    I could always lean on

    but erosion weathered
    you long ago

    I'd like to tell you
    you're the one person
    I could always count on

    but you were never around

    I'd like to thank you
    for teaching me lifes'
    lessons and values

    but I was self-schooled

    I'd like to thank you
    for taking care of me
    all through childhood

    but I fended for myself

    I'd like to tell you
    that I appreciate
    all you gave me

but my gift basket was empty

    I'd like to thank you
    for always putting me first
    ahead of all others

but in truth I was non-existent

    but I will tell you
    I am thankful
    you gave me life

at least you got that right

    Every time

I'm reminded of mothers like this, I tremble.

kitana, and i'm glad that she gave life to such a talented person, as yourself. in some ways i can relate to this piece...it reminds me of the father that i never had. but, at the same time it reminds me of how blessed i am to have such a wonderful mother. as always, dear friend, your work is very real and i'm always lovin' it.

Afri..thats the saddest part isn't it...not knowing why....

Bert..thank you for reading me...and yes...people like this are not mothers, that is the problem..they missed out on the qualities to make them one somewhere along the way...sad but true...

Rich..thank you..and yes it is sad, but it's out there like all the other things that are wrong in our world....

Epip...thank you for seeing what I write....

Lister....your comments are always much appreciated..and sadly too many can identify, but it's life and we have to take the good with the bad I guess, no matter how much we hurt...
