Not if THEIR proof is invalidated by REALITY....that simple.....
And yes these types use these "Theories" as a psychological block of the Reality they don't want to face or can't face.
Such as with a rape victim, who is so traumatized that they just don't want to believe it happened and either ignore it or deny it.......and even in many cases don't want to admit it........

Even with your rape example ... 2 having experienced the same ... can come out of it with different realities.
It does not mean one is true and the other is not ... they can both be true ... based on the perceptions of each victim.
I think you'd have to be inside of one's mind (heart and soul), along with having great tools, to evaluate properly.
