Black People Politics : Why Black People Should Not Vote In The 2016 Presidential Election

:SuN034:The only issue with the DON'T VOTE campaign is the message. Most people don't have a enough of an attention span to know that when we say "DON'T VOTE", we mean "DON'T VOTE " for a Presidential Candidate when you get your ballot.

We are still encouraging people to vote in their upcoming local elections as well as the November election because there will be some community specific issues on the ballots. Some cities and counties may want to pass bonds, or elect local officers as well as state representatives. Brothers and sister need to be at the polls for that.

"DON'T VOTE" is catchy and makes sense for the presidential race, but poses major challenges for other races that need our attention and our voting power.

I respectfully disagree! We should also vote in the presidential election for the same reason we vote in the local, and state elections. Because it's tactful! President Obama's election is a perfect example. Imagine where we might be if John McCain, or Mitt Romney had gotten elected!!! They would have started World War III by now.

Very much appreciate your difference of perspective.

There is strategic value in positioning the black vote to abstain from voting in the Presidential election. It demonstrates to the electorate that the black vote has the power to determine and will determine who will be President. Whether we show up at the poles or whether we stay home. We will determine the outcome.

That's a lot of power. However we are considered to be a vote that is going to vote Democrat no matter what. Not voting for President is a strategy that signals to candidates that they must speak directly to remedying the needs of Black America.

Tact has nothing to do with it. People vote because they believe electing their candidate of choice will have a positive outcome on their lives. This is why Obama was elected. Remember his position on Health Care, student loan debt, removing troops from Afghanistan, lowering the unemployment rate, etc. His position spoke to specific needs of voters more than McCain and Romney. That's why he was elected.

When you show up at the polls and see Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton on your presidential ballot, what difference does it make? What specific problem will either of them solve for Black America?

Trump has a history of being a racist and the Clinton's 1994 crime bill railroaded more black men to prison than any other president. Not to mention Hillary's "Super Predator" comments and the list goes on with the Clinton's.

We are at the point in Black America where we must try multiple strategies to lift ourselves out of our current condition.

can you point to an example of this tactic working for any other group?

As black people our condition is very unique, so there should be limited comparisons between us and other groups.

But this is how I will address your question:

Most other groups do NOT vote Democrat hands down in the same way as Black America. Black America tends to vote Democrat or stay home. That is a phenomenon that is unique to Black Voters. We put all of our eggs in one basket.

Really hate to compare, but I will to hopefully land the point:

The Latino vote is always split between some voting Republican and some voting Democrat. Not to mention there are significant numbers of their population who can not vote due to citizenship status.

The Jewish Vote is a small extremely powerful voting bloc that puts $$$$$ behind their politicians regardless of if they are Democrat or Republicans. So there is no need for them to not vote because they have organized their $$$ resources to get their agenda and candidates elected.

The Asian American community tends to rally behind their candidates no matter what and again, some of their votes fall Republican and some fall Democrat.

So, unless Black America has an organized fund worth millions of $$$$ and a political agenda that will be revealed to us within the next couple of months, not casting a vote for President, but voting in the other races that impact you directly locally and on a state level is a viable strategy.

Again, very hard to compare us to any other group. We are a UNIQUE people who are very special. The original people. There is no one else like us on the planet.
