Before I start with this poem I want everybody to know that this is Foxi. I changed my name and a new one was given to me by someone I look up to. So, from now on I'll be krazelyricks. Holla at ya gyrl!!!!!!! Why a black poet CAN'T be president? Why are the political parties so hesitant? Where's the opportunity......There it went Black poets.....yeah, we heaven sent But why can't we be president? Didn't we send the rhymes about the real story for 9/11 unbent Didn't we make our voices heard so others would get the hint Weren't we besides Malcolm in Washington D.C Stood by Martin in Salem lyrically Spet those rhymes about those four little girls when that bomb went off quickly All the while standing strong and writing visually Taking pieces of our history Making pictures of the politically NOT correct world we see daily Did we not hold hands stating....ONE DAY WE WILL BE FREE!!!! So, why can't a black poet be president? Were we not the ones talking about the hood Not only the bad but the good Speaking clearly so we understood Breaking bread for that same community's food Hoping and pray one day we would be president......yeah, I wish I could I mean would..... Walk in that white house and make it all good I mean since we were the ones talking about our heritage Knowing that life can sometimes be a ***** We STILL wrote about the economy and the high bridge Even though some times we weren't always on that same ridge We STILL spoke without a glitch Which Might I add, we always had that nitch So, why can't a black poet be president? While that white president With the squeaky clean slate is on that white bench On vacation with this month's rent Taking his father's place in that heavenly white seat and when Another bomb goes off that's when We will be president!!!!!! No, take that back It will be when the natural resources are out of Iraq When every black sistah NEEDS a mack Where every black brotha is on the corner selling crack When AIDS is over blown and tha white man takes back The black man's mind, and that's a fact We will be president!!!!!!!!!! When we are totally controlled by the man When A black poet can't speak without the white president holding his or her hands Talking demands And taking over our African land And When the white house ain't even grand It's no longer white, but black as a pan That's when We will be president!!!!!!! That's when they decide they don't have to have power anymore Because they already have our mind, so that's a bore Taking all our powers And giving us what they don't want anymore But we STILL adore When there is really no power for the president......not anymore That's when, we will be president AND NOT A SECOND BEFORE!!!!!!!
