When we are unaware of Truth, a lie will appear as Truth (OSIRIS)

Much Beloved Goddess Auset333,

Praise and Thanks to you for digging up the video by Robert Beckford, it is certainly an excellent teaching tool for the serious Bible Student.

Beckford surmises two (2) critical elements that question the believability of the Bible, they are:

1. How could Moses write about his death before it occurred?
2. Does the J-E-P-D theory indicate that others wrote the Pentateuch?

Again, it is no secret about the above viewpoints of so-called “Higher Criticism.” Interestingly, however, higher criticism, along with archaeology, has been responsible for stunning reverses which directly results from skepticism and findings.

Take the (1) element for instance, many early literary critics viewed the book of Deuteronomy as largely the work of the “D” source, as outlined in the (2) element above. This book has been subjected to numerous interpretations, but traditionally assigned as the work of Moses, over a variety of other authors, to include postexilic times.

Some of these critical scholars do accept chapter 34 (death of Moses) as an “appendix” perhaps attributed to Joshua, as explanation to the above question (1). And this based upon the fact that in chapter 31, Joshua is appointed as Moses successor, thus easily finishing the book and the death of Moses. These salient points, however, were not brought out in Beckford’s video.

Take the (2) element, again it is not a secret that non-evangelical scholars have long adopted the theory that the J-E-P-D hypothesis was an achievement. That the Old Testament narratives are a product of “redaction” by editors blending these separate reports into a single narrative, which is precisely Beckford’s point in the video.

But what Beckford does not bring out is the following; scholars such as Umberto Cassuto, Cyrus H. Gordon, Robert Longacre and others have argued and each repudiate against the view that there exists behind the canonical writings earlier and more reliable sources that were somehow, mythologized, in the interest of the Hebrews. Furthermore, the theory is under on-going and mounting attack. The mainline thinking goes as such; linguistic research supports the argument that “stylistic variations” reflect the pace and mood of the narratives and less likely identify supposed redactors.

What you have here are open issues, not closed issues, on both sides of the fact-situation, and I agree with Beckford, that God and the Holy Ghost is constantly sharing revelation knowledge about the veracity of the Holy Bible, God’s sacred text of Scriptures.

Again, this is quality information of a rare kind. Please continue in this vain; anyone that does not view this video will miss a treat!
