I am a Boomer. I consider this stuff about generations to be largely crap. If children are misinformed, are bombarded with unimportant information and relevant data is completely left out then what do you expect to happen?

I don't even know if my high school had an accounting course. I was put into College Prep from jump street and got 4 years of math that was more complicated but less tedious than accounting. I was one of the nerdy idiots that thought math was fun.

An accountant told me that he did not object to mandatory accounting in the schools as long as it was not done for 6 years. Until after he retired.

The planned obsolescence that started after WWII is also part of the problem.

There were 200,000,000 motor vehicles in the US in 1994. Cars and trucks wear out. Where did the depreciation go?

Most high schools have never had an accounting course. That's really the parents job, to teach finances of some kind
