    Hello.
    Do I know you?
I mean, you're staring at me like
    I'm your long lost brother.
or like you wonder if I'm a cannibal.
some sort of man-eating animal n the prowl.
and you wonder why we walk around
    with our faces frowned.

you're scared of me and you can't hide it.
so you stare at me , trying to read
    the thoughts behind my eyes.
    to no avail.
i keep the shades to my windows drawn
cuz i don't like peeping toms trying to
    see what's on my table.
jumping to conclusions, trying to find
    truth behind illusions.
but the questions you ask yourself
    keep you guessing and coonfused.

if you knock on my door, i'd let you in.
but i'd keep one eye on you cuz i don;t trust you.
relaxe, i'm like that with everyone, it's not just you.
    or maybe it is.
i still remember what you did to the native americans
    you're a wolf in sheep's clothing,
an enemy posing as a friend.

you're so full of anger & hate
that you mistreat your own kind.
    hitler, stalin, eichman, bosnia, chechnya,
    need i go on?
don't think i'm wrong for not wanting you
in my cipher & breaking bread with me.
i'd rather lie with dirty dogs & rise with fleas.

you're a little too untrustworthy for my comfort.
you even kept your own woman behind
until she said no more & began women's suffrage.
that was the past, you say
why can't i earn your trust?
    cuz just 35 years ago
i was forced to sit in the back of the bus.
    that's a little too recent.
i can't believe that in such small amount of time
you went from hating blacks to being decent.
your lawmakers of that era still hold seats.
becuz 35 years isn't enough time for them to all be deceased.

    Yeah, time has passed,
the clock said tic but hasn't said toc.
just recently, old racist *** strom thurmond
    was praised by trent lott.
and i'm supposed to believe that you've changed.
    the faces may be different,
but the words have remained the same.
so don't go getting upset cuz i'd rather have you in front of me
so i can see every move that you make.
in the past, everytime a people trusted you,
    it was a terrible mistake.
    first time, shame on you.
    second time...

    Positive....Positive...Positive...

What can I say...but you consistently leave me
blown away everytime you grace this forum
with your perspective of our society...
This enclosed sooooo much that many of
us feel...and yes, there truly isn't enough
distance between now and the yesterdays
    of inequality....

    Positive...I'm speechless...

    Excellent Work!

    Watzinaname, I thank you deeply.

Angelic, it is feedback like this that lets me know that I have done my job as the messenger that I strive to be. Thank you so very much. Your words are inspiring.

$$, If I don't hit my people in the head with thought provoking pieces, I've failed them. Thank you for your encouraging words.
