The Bajan Hitler: Racist… or anti-racist sarcasm?

    BY BFP | MARCH 25, 2012 · 2:52 PM

Truth is where you find it. Did the racist creator of this Hitler meme video deliver a message that was quite different from what they intended?
Or… was the creator trying to expose Bajan racism?

As a Bajan, do you see this video as a truthful depiction of the views held by some White Bajans towards Guyanese Bajans?

....or....aside from the video, what is the "racial climate" like in Barbados?

    ....economically, socially, politically, educationally, etc..?

...Is there still a lot of racism there between whites and blacks?

...Is there a "class system" among Blacks according to skin color?

I totally understand and respect that.....That's why I posed the questions also to get a better understanding of any white/black racism in Barbados.

The statement on the video says Bajans prefer White people to Guyanese. Whites are not concerned about Guyanese..once they come here they can pay them low wages.

Cherry blossom I have been trying to post these comments and I pc is giving so much trouble. I will get to the next comment.

    Thanks for the whole!

This part, though, was especially of interest to me because of the historically ingrained/indoctrinated "self-hate" and "colorism" so prevalent among Africans and African Americans.

....even in many South American countries.

    ....across the Diaspora.

In other islands, like the Bahamas and Jamaica and others, there is still a "color caste/class-system" because of the inter-mixing of African, European and/or Indians. ---- where-in the "poor" or "commoners" are separated from the "elite" by skin color.

    ...either ostracized or privileged....

Rihanna attend the same secondary school as one of my sons. Rihanna has a light skin but there are number of people here with that skin.. When I hear talk about people of Irish and black ancestry, what most people don't understand is the fact that most of the brown skinned or light skinned folks is that way because of the plantation system. White men got black folks pregnant...these white men were not married to these black women, so someone may say they have Irish or English ancestry, but their great grandparents became pregnant for married white men on the plantation. I often tell people my grandfather was married to my grandmother, her children were not conceived in the cane fields. I am still amazed when I hear people say they have this ancestry and the other ancestry...these were illigitimate children borne by black women who had no option but to let the white plantation owners and their white overseers breed them. These women could not refuse the sexual advances of these men...so the whole thing of ancestry is a JOKE. All the descendants have to show is THEIR SKIN COLOUR.
