Good question...
The problem in my humble opinion is one of ego, as it relates to competition. We are a diverse group of creative folk, with more than enough Muse to go around. Some of us could write what's on the cereal box and get love, and that's cool. Other's feel threatened by their fellow poets and have "penis envy" of the pen. Still others totally ignore you regardless of what you write. Right? The solution would be easy if we would celebrate what each and every one us bring to the table. Hate breeds hate.
