    Where 'dey at?

I raise my gaze and wonder?

Where are the bulk and mass of my people?

On the top floors of corporate buildings? No

Overseeing mad acres of land they own? Unh uh

Do they pepper the beautiful hillsides

and remote wonderous places of the world? AaaaaaIdontthinkso

Are they passing an overabundance of wealth down through their generations? Please

    Represent, represent!

Why is there such a disproportionate number locked away?

Some would say because of the laws they break You know decisions they make

It's so easy to say, as the foolish are quick to tell someone else's story

to the masses as though they really know

Real issues never really touched upon

I ask how can a whole race be so foul as to have

such an unbalanced populous of folks lost within

the belly of the beast? I refuse to ever believe that

I hear some of our own say it's because they did wrong

Then I wonder whose pocket are they in?

Or have they just forgotten where they came from?

You know get a little money or position then start actin' funny

    Can it be so simple?

We lose potential doctors, lawyers, civil leaders, and teachers everyday.

Our socioeconomic and legal stucture happens to breed poverty in biased proportions

Poverty breeds crime, no one wants to be poor You know Can’t eat or feed their young,

Can't be sheltered from the rain How can I say don't get yours boo?

Don’t survive? Never did, never will

So we get locked away Crime is crime though some uneven laws increase our time

What then? Kids do bids for stealing food Sent to worlds designed to nurture worse

behavior Go in destitute thieves, shack up with conditioned crazies, whipped into

animalistic frenzies, you know like mistreated animals in zoos, and come out full fledged

freshly educated murderers with a whole lot of rage to release? Rehab nowhere in sight

Waiting on the inevitable strike three

So where 'dey at? You know
