Steward has become more of a hired gun than a trainer who takes a fighter from the amatuers to a championship. He is excellent at taking established fighters who have learned all they can from another trainer, and making them realize their full potential. I think Jermaine Taylor made an excellent move in hiring Steward, he needs to diversify his offense, and Steward will definately do that for him.

Hey - all I gotta do is put up the 50 - JT doing all the work!

I do kinda wish JT would've been more secretive about it.

If he had got steward and didn't say nothing Winky would've came in over-confident and MAYBE JT could've snuck up on him.

Now Winky prolly taking this thang real serious cause he know JT hands as fast as his and he know steward will bring JT in ready.

Erything cool over this way brother I hope all is well with you and yours.

JT couldn't have kept that a secret. Boxing media regularly drop in on the training camps of fighters, and Steward is a very high profile trainer (with his job on HBO).

OK - maybe you're right. But you don't think JT could've insisted Steward come to him and keep it hush? I mean if he trained in the rock there isn't exactly a ton of boxing media there and he could've ran a closed camp right?

Maybe I'm secretly worried for JT but he ain't skeered else he wouldn't have took the fight...I imagine he doesn't think he needs to sneak up on winky.

Not surprisingly different trainers have different expertise. There are trainers like Floyd Mayweather Sr who are known as defensive experts. Manny Stewart is an offensive specialist, which is what JT needs to work on against a defensive fighter like Winky Wright. JT doesn't have to worry about Winky's power, as I don't think Winky could KO JT with a pair of brass knuckles. JT's task will be to break through Winky's defense. I think Manny Steward will be good at figuring out a way to do so.

    JT-Winky Showdown

Here's what manny said today at the pre-fight press conference..

"It took a few phone calls from Ozell Nelson before I accepted the job as trainer. I think Winky Wright is pound-for-pound the best fighter in the world, so it took quite a bit of coercing for me to accept training Jermain for the fight."

Now if he believes that - and I'm sure he does since he's said it before, WHY would he say it now that he's training JT and WHY would he say at the presser two days before the fight? What's the angle? He playing with JT's head or winky's?

Also I noticed Winky seemed a lot more low key and respectful - even referred to JT as the champ. Few months ago winky was acting like he was the champ and JT was just a lucky dude keeping his belts warm.

Still can't believe HBO is giving this fight away!

I think Manny is getting inside JT's head and trying to maybe get inside Wink's also maybe trying to lure him into a place of over confidence.....

    and I'm like you I can't believe it's a free fight.....oh well I'm not complaining....

I been thinking about this fight all day bruh....I can't wait to get this one going......
