As a teenager, I was a member of a group that signed with Stax records. That was the record company with such names as Issac Hayes, Johnnie Taylor, and Sam and Dave. I recorded at the same studio as The Dramatics, Parliament Funkadelic, Bootsie Collins, and many others. The name of the studio was called United Sound, in Detroit. I was a young guy at the time in a world of talented older brothers. They were my mentors and I learned a lot from them. I remember Weegee Howard of The Dramatics in the studio sitting at the piano, sangin' his *** off! He sang lead on such hits as "Whatchu' See Is Whatchu Get", "Get Off My Mountain", and "In The Rain". I also remember Ron Banks of The Dramatics, who the ladies at the studio called "Mr. Wonderful". He was a nice and personable man. I worked with many stars and our group was supposed to be in the 1973 movie, "Wattstax", but I won't go into what happened with that. When I signed my recording contract with Stax Records, there was a champagne toast and I thought I hit the big time! Things were coming together...I was doing concerts and in the studio working on our first album. Being a rock star, signing autographs, groupies....the whole nine! Perhaps I will discuss more about that part of my life later. Just wanted you to know who I am.
