It's been my observation that women tend to like romance novels and men tend to like suspense/action books. Even the authors who write them seem to follow this trend... women authors are more likely to write romance novels and men are more likely to write thrillers. This is while 'deep' books, whether classic fiction or contemporary pieces that have been considered more intellectual than typical escapist literature, can go either way.

Anyone else agree? What type of books do men generally go for?

I myself like historical fiction, sci-fi, horror, spiritual and cultural books, and of course comic books, which I suppose encompasses all of that. :D

Would you like examples of the books I read?

    PEACE

I like historical fiction too, it's probably my favorite genre. After that, I like fantasy and, to a (much) lesser degree, sci-fi. I'll ocassionally read thrillers/mysteries, but I'm picky about the authors. I also like to read non-fiction history, spiritual development type materials, but I have to intersperse some fiction with that. I really like goood literature.

Most women seem to love fiction and romance novels.

Whenever I go to a bookstore with a lady I know where to find her if we get lost.

Me....I like political and religious books myself.

I've also alway been fond of medical books.

i like the romantic compassionate side of books it could be because
i write in the style of unconditional compassion / mysteriously and romance
which lead me to reading books of what i write to enlighten me on what i write
so let's say some men and author's follow this trend not all man
more so i read sports over comics never collected them but sports i do.

I stay at Barnes and Noble and other book stores.

Anyone notice how they tend to put the African American section right next to the Gay and Lesbian section?

I confronted a number of bookstores about this and even wrote letters.

The typical reaction I get from them is:

"People are people....what's the big deal?

Homosexuals are people just like Blacks or Latinos..right?".

I said yeah, they're people but as far as I know being black has never been a sexual perversion.

"Sir, are you homophobic....are you asking that we accomidate your personal homophobic wishes?"

I tell the managers that if people are people and it doesn't matter, then put the Holocaust or Jewish section up next to the Gay and Lesbian section and keep our history sanctified.
