It seems and sounds that so mnay posters are either into denial about the present or obsessed by revising our people history etc.?

    That hasn't gotten us anywhere...

Let us truly strive and try to move forward again...

Now you know and understand what motivates me to start this new thread...

    So holla holla...

    And thanks in advance!

Happiness is the only thing that is intrinsically good (ie. good for it's own sake) and suffering is the only thing that is intrinsically bad. All other things are good or bad to the extent that they cause happiness or suffering. Therefore, the objective of ethics should be to maximize as much happiness and minimize as much distress as is possible (and I mean the sum total of happiness/suffering in the universe, not just one person's).

I also believe that minimizing distress should take priority over maximizing happiness since avoiding harm is necessary in a way that experiencing happiness is not.

In the Spirit of Sankofa and Peace and Love!

Good point brother chuck, however, our history has been so mingled that we must become revisionist historians, so to speak, before plotting a forward course.

    I concur.

There is no "future" without a (correct telling of our) "past".

morals ethics and values, are the basic mental as opposed to emotional or tactile, 5 senses,

    aspect of culture.

The solution is to do one of the 3

1 Embrace our traditional culture aspects of the above

    2 Create a new Culture

3 or do what mechanized society says,
reject culture all together and continue the present course regardless of where it leads.

    A parable of the concept is this;

those that refuse to create a boat or ship when a flood is ariving,
say, when the flood has arrived
"Those who are the best swimmers will survive"

Those who refuse to embrace some aspects of a culture, say
"It is up to each person or each parent to teach thier child thus and so"

We had some aspects of African culture ingrained into us, blessed to be locked within,
inspite of the trauma of slavery,
that held us together and helped to keep family and sanity together in a hellish world, from reconstruction to the early 60s

those aspets called Black American culture and Black Caribbean culture

were scientificaly eroded and watered down, during the 70s and 80s,
by those who would profit from the disorientation

The British knew quite well , what would happen to any group, deprived of culture,
to their morals ethics and values

William Goldings "Lord of the Flies", and Charles Dicken's "Oliver Twist", and "the Prince and the Pauper"

    illustrate the condition

I think before we can strive forward we must first be aware of our past and the truth
but i agree that we must get out the stage of nowhere hubing the past of our culture.

Maybe that comes from a lack of knowledge of self

because the more I study my history the more I attach myself to my race, and embrace my race with the knowledge of it's potential for even greater achievement.

    50 years of non culture,

how does that compare to 25 thousand years of continuous culture?
