Black People : What is Your Nationality?

What is your Nationality? What do your children call themselves? What do you check on an application?......

American by itself is not a Nationality. African American is not a Nationality because Africa is obviously a Continent. I comission you to do a survey. And ask your European(so-called white) friends, schoolmates, associates, co-workers, clergy members...etc what is thier Nationality and they will without hesitating tell you with confidence. Irish American, Itallian American, Nigerian American, Iranian American, Polish American....etc.

My point is that the Native Americans and the so-called Blacks of America are the only people on the planet without a flag and a Nation represented by the family of Nations.

And please dont say it doesnt matter or Im above that or Im so into my Africaness that I trancend the notion of it all because every one we know frome Africa has a Flag and a Nation they proudly proclaim. It unconstitutional to be a Citizen and not proclaim your Natiolity. Even if it was stolen from us. The 13th, 14th and 15th amendments implimented cilil rights which are nothing but granted priveledges that can be violated at the discression of the officials. Plus if you look carefully you will notice that the word citizen in the above mentioned amendments start with a lower case c. But if you look elswhere it is Citzen with a capitol c. Dont believe me check it and holla back!

I believe the term nationality is misunderstood in your post. While the single term 'American' is not a nationality, it is used in that context. American = citizen of the United States. This is how it is most commonly used and understood. A citizen being a legal member of state.

In that context, you are an American citizen, just like all the others you listed above.. Irish-American, Italian-American etc.. but know those terms (irish, italian etc) are not describing nationality, but ethnicity - a social group that shares the same cultural history/roots.

The debate is long standing on whether African Americans should call themselves that because they lack a designated African country to link their roots and culture to. Some believe the term Black American is ethnic in itself, as being Black in America shares social history/culture to such an extent it is a separate ethnic group.

Bear in mind African Americans are not the only group without a designated country to base their ethnicity on - there are afro-germans, afro-brits and likely many more - but their nationalities are clear, as is should be for the African American too.

Nationality vs ethnicity - they should not be confused.

Definetely. Nationality is the order of the day. Without one it makes one a bastard people. Being that nationality deals with decent nature of ones forefathers/mothers. It is the reason so-called Blacks dont have rights but are assigned granted priveledges through the 13th-15th amendments.
