    One article I'm reading: 'What Neighborhood Poverty Studies Can Learn From African American Studies'...

    So many are just born into the midst of a people, so few take the time to figure out 'how it all works'...

    Hence the answer to your questions will also come from your own inquiries...FYI...

    If the question is important/relevant/significant to you, you must also help to answer it...FYI...

    It is a rather easy task, if one just types 'African American Culture', read the articles, then decide what is important/relevant/significant to the topic...Make more of an effort, posters...FYI...

    The above is not an answer, it's just babble .....

    You expect to get an answer about 'afrikan american culture' from an article and expect others to do the same??
    But you asked the question in your Op, not me. You want others to answer a question that you won't?

    Also, what will be revealing, are those who make the effort...i. e., you can't complain about what 'we' failed to do, if you don't go your homework...And what are you planning to usher in next...FYI...

    this is a tough nut to crack, iregardless of the sentmentality posted on the web about "negro folkways" or blak folks adapration to white culture, from reconstruction,
    to just bfore integration, when fmilies were intact, black busineses flourished, but we languished in a wlderness with no knowledge of self

    There are two terms present, first American;

    There is no American culture and that is why those who embrace their traditional or ancestral culture fare beter then those who reject it;

    WASPS, only wealthy wasps identify with England and British culture

    Jews; have a distinct culture, and use it to build for their children
    Irish; monoplized Wall street , fire and police unions, but maintian a strong celtic bond
    Mexicans; wil be light years past us in 20 years because they, have no0 hangups about unity
    Yemenis;
    They control the basic needs in the Black comunity;
    dry goods 99 cent stores, corner delis and supermarkets
    Koreans, maintain teir culture, and mnoplize fish, and fruits and vegies, even with their own farms, trucking and fisheries

    The other part of the term, is African
    and as long as we reject what scientifically works,
    the embracement of at least some apects of our ancestral African culture;
    like the Nguzo Saba

    we will always be wondering why we are unable to achieve;
    economicaly
    politicaly
    educationaly
    and self sufficiency
