    Peace and Blessings Family,

What is the oldest government still in existence today? How old is it?

    Anyone know?

    Thanks in advance.

some argue that it is anarchy, but to me anarchy isn't a government, and some say tribalism. I would say monarchy is probably something still being used today that is known to be the oldest.

The U.S. is the oldest constitutional republic in the world.
England's government is about 1000 years old. It may be even older.
The Vatican has been around for almost 2000 years.

Ethiopia. It has not only been around since biblical times (2,000 years and counting), it's mentioned in the bible, itself ("reach out your arms to Ethiopia...")

    Ethiopia

Ethiopia, the East African nation formerly known as Abyssinia, has been an independent nation since at least the eleventh century B.C. The rulers of Ethiopia have claimed descent from the biblical King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, who, according to legend, was actually the ruler of Ethiopia.
And some historians claim that Ethiopia has existed as an independent nation since around the year 3000 B.C. That would make Ethiopia more than 4,900 years old!

I had to go back, check it out. Yep. I said Ethiopia is the world's oldest. Didn't say it's last king, Haile Selassie, who died in 1975, traced his lineage.... in an unbroken line.... back to Solomon and Sheba, but whateva.
