why is it that when ever anybody says anything pessimistic it is greeted as reality?
when ever somebody comes on site and says how messed up black people are, it is greeted with a chorus of "that's the truth".

"the truth hurts", really? i say that the truth will set you free.

is there really no hope for black people moving forward?
why don't we all just hang it up now?

Reality is subjective ;) Actuality is something else...

reality - Truth hurts people feelings *boo hoo* - but in actuality, nothing has changed until you act on it.

no disrespect intended, but like always you have a problem criticizing anyone who's black, even if that brother/sister doesn't have your best interest at heart.......................as much as you scream "COINTELPRO" you'd think that you could see COINTELPRO in full effect..........that's all I'll say, because it could be 3 years from now and you'd probably still say that it isn't the proper time to criticize Obama yet...........what reality are you bringing forward that makes your opinion more valid than anyone elses? All I'm seeing is factual evidence of the people who are surrounding Obama.......We've already stated that we'll have to wait and see what actually happens, but from the looks of it, he's not surrounding himself with the type of people who inspire "hope."

^^^exactly....this is a board of subjective opinions....I'd understand the point of this thread if there wasn't any evidence to back up these opinions, but that's not the case in this scenario..................

    is there any hope?

i am speaking in general, not about obama.
why is it that all things that are negative and pessimistic are accepted as reality?
"black people do this wrong and that wrong", there is a global conspiracy to keep us all down", it is all accepted as common knowledge.

it there anyone on this site who sees a positive way forward for black people or are we all doomed to be slaves forever?

cause history shows me that there is..........not the other way around.......It is possible for us to make strides and we have made strides and we continue to do so, because I honestly believe we can accomplish anything we put our minds to....... but I'm not foolish enough to believe that we won't face resistance.

Everyone's reality is different, although actuality remains the same for all.

    Actuality - Obama is president

Reality - no-one is going to feel the same way about it.

I, for one, think it is an enormous step for Black people as a whole. The image alone is powerful and it's positive effects are felt around the globe - some of that has got to rub off on the current ACTUAL plight of Black folk, because our mindsets have changed.

Those that want to dwell in the negativity, do so at their peril

It's about us as a people, not about the individual man.

is there a reason to try?

do you believe that black people can overcome this illumananti or whoever is supposed to be running things?
do you believe that black people are basically lazy and just looking to use race as an excuse for not striving?

these viewpoints are often presented here to a chorus of "that's right".

that seems to be half the people who post here.
the illuminati, the powers behind the curtain.
"we can't do anything". "black people are lazy".
i see so much of this. do we create our own "reality"?
