the near north
is it the rustling of the leaves
as they're moved around by gentle breezes
that intriques me
or,
is it the warmth of the sun
that radiates from the ONE
who gave me life

is it?

is it the cool, refreshing rains
that soak...ease my pains
as i slow dance through chance after chance at happiness
that intriques me
or,
is it the soft glow of the moon light
on a warm, summer's night
as the lapping of the waves sing to me

is it?

when the morning sun shines
casting visions of tomorrow
...images of yesterday
as it travel across a sky...divine
'til setting on the western most precipice
beyond where i sit or stand
and night begins when day gives way
to stars and moon and yet another day
and rivers of life
feeds fast flowing tears
as it counts the days
the months
the years
of the journey we all must travel each day
as the sun hides beyond
so the moon and stars can play

is it.

is it money
the almighty cheddar
the power to make dreams mo’ betta
come on, yo'
is that your dream
is that what you think is you?

is it?

is it a constant dream
of a future paved with glitter and fame
not in HIS name
but for selfish gain

i've looked into the eyes
of she who GOD gave to me
they spoke of joy and happiness
and told of wonders they could see
they painted breath-taking portraits
of all the things we're meant to do
she smiled a beautiful smile
that said the words she spoke were true

i know

the many doubts that come to mind
"my faith isn't strong enough"
"i don't have the time"

just brush that old self out of your ear
PRAY for HIS strength
that HIS words you will hear

hope that tomorrow will bring enlightenment to you
that we might imitate the Son
yeal,
that's what we must do

is it the oxygen we breathe
that come from leaves
that intriques me
or
is it that man
in his destruction of the land
is on a self-defeating course 'cause he doesn't understand

is that what intriques me?

hmmm.
