    Hello Family,

    What is a revolutionary?

Would you consider yourself a revolutionary?

Anyone care to share their definitions?

I Always Wanted A Thorough Definition Too!!:)

IMO, an revolutionary is an individual with the drive to make changes in his environment: social, political, etc. A revolution is an event, so a revolutionary must make this happen by ACTION!! If not it's just mere brainstorming, and wishful thinking.

Nice question...and one worthy of deeper interpretation than what we are used to. "Revolutionary" comes from the root word "Revolution"...a part of the word "Revolve". This in essence simply means "change". This change happens on many levels, but first it must happen "mentally", for the body or the mouth will never do what has not first been done in "the mind".

The doctor that finds a "new way" to do differently what has in the past been "always done another way" is "revolutionary. They "changed the status quo" of how something was designated to be done. The psychologist and teacher who discovers that black and white people have a "different mode of thinking and processing information" and then discloses that information is "revolutionary."

Although we may not physically see the movement or change, they have "changed the thought processes" of people and their peers who once adhered to another thought process. As such, they have not only "changed the thought process but the behaviour and method of doing things as well."

The Europeans scholars who entered Africa when it was being invaded and then went against "their own society and the social thought process" of their society in terms of "how African people were looked at and regarded" by disclosing the truth in their books...were quite revolutionary.

I made these examples because, obviously these are just a few examples of peoples and events that did not require a soap box where grand speeches were made or external visibility was required, and yet no one can deny that they were indeed "revolutionary" or that they did not bring about change that affected the world.

Every last one of them risked their reputation, their integrity with their peers, their livelyhood and their over all social standing and acceptance to move or go against the norm or what was socially accepted as being a fact when it was not.

Right now there is a European in Italy who is going against the church by "stating that Jesus never existed". His case has been thrown out of court and he has a new book out. The point is that as a European in a European dominated society where he has "everything going for him", he is being "quite revolutionary" by going against the status quo that has benefited him and proven to be in his advantage. So why should he rock the boat?

He's old, he's well off, he has nothing to gain from it...so why rock the boat?
He's rocking the boat because he was taught that "the purpose of his government and society was to protect the citizens from anything that could harm them". Obviously he has not only discovered something that goes against the "norm", but he has equally recognized the harm or damage that it can do and has done. Is he being "revolutionary"? Yes indeed !!!...and where he's living at, it's quite possible that his life may be taken for what he's attempting to disclose.

Now, I said all of this to say that there are many levels of being a revolutionary or of bringing about "revolution"...(CHANGE). We may not all be MLKs, or George Jacksons or Garveys or Malcolms, but we each can be quite "revolutionary" and bring about "revolution" (CHANGE) on many levels. Suppose you worked in a hospital and learned something that is quite appalling and that "you know for a fact that the masses are unaware of as it regards procedures or something to that nature that would change the way people are having things done.

You have a choice. You can "risk your job, your life, your reputation and your social standing" by being "revolutionary enough" to dare to expose it...or you can remain silent for fear of losing your life, your job, your reputation and social standing. Will you in this example be "revolutionary" or just part of the status quo ?? Not as easy as you thought, is it??

The bottom line is that: We have many "REVOLUTIONARIES OUT HERE, KNOWN AND UNKNOWN...BUT REVOLUTIONARIES ALL THE SAME !!!

HISTORY DISCLOSES ONE FACT THAT HAS NEVER CHANGED, AND THAT'S THAT..."THE MASSES ARE NEVER RIGHT" !!

21st Century Revolutionaries should be Socio-Economic

Have you ever heard of David Kearns?

This very intelligent man was very comfortably rich when he instigated and orchestrated strategies and programs for White America’s collective well being.

David Kearns [was the chief executive at Xerox in the 1980’s] has highlighted by what he orchestrated and instigated; that he is a real leader and VISIONARY who has made a far bigger impact on securing the USA than any President the USA has ever had.

He tried to increase [with some major successes] the competitiveness of Xerox with the ground breaking [it is still the benchmark] quality management program called "Leadership Through Quality"; because he felt threatened by the massive strides being made in Japan and the rest of Asia.

The earliest PC, and PC mouse and many other computer innovations were produced by Xerox however the lady in charge of Xerox’s Research and Development was ordered by Kearns to show absolutely everything they had come up with to Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and many other bright young citizens of the USA [she initially refused stipulating that this was lunacy, thus she needed it in writing, which she duly received].

David Kearns knew that Xerox’s monolithic structure was not flexible enough to be at the forefront of these new technologies but he had the vision [which is why he shared Leadership through Quality with IBM with all the USA’s corporations who were supposedly Xerox’s rivals] to realise that Xerox’s balance sheet is not as important as the USA’s.

He was also very intimidated by what was to his perception the nightmare scenario of the Asians forging even further ahead. One only has to look at Microsoft the head of whom is literally the wealthiest man on the planet, Apple and many of the other big IT players in the USA to perceive how well this strategy has worked.

    Where are our visionaries?

I truly can’t think of any apart from Marcus Garvey and Eric Williams with Jessie Jackson and Farrakhan the only living contenders and they don’t have the necessary knowledge of business or resources.

Anyone who genuinely believes they are not programmed
is graphically illustrating that their programming is COMPLETE!

Wow. I challenge you to find me a site, dedicated to the European, where a member would use an Afrikan as an answer to such an deep question. The first thought that came to mind of a revolutionary was that of a European? On a site dedicated to the praise and empowerment of Afrikans?? Wow. Mentacide runs so deep.

Spoken well from the Media Assasin

    Hotep

Some of us just don't get it yet and are not understanding what we are up againts and probly in some cases only lightly amusing them self with the most serious matter that the real "Revolusionaries" are involved in for life. Media is a weapon use to further any cause and to think that there is ever going to be any thing in the favor of Africans in America that we can use to further our cause is insane. The "Revolutionary" knows that there is no help that is ever going to come to promote the cause for absolute so-called African Liberation except from within and not from with out. When most of the mind set is spent on foolishness and then the subject is suddenly shifted to the serious matter of talking about "Revolution" the same lathargic and lazy efforts of stroking one anothers egoes and false pride still exist that is going no ware at all. If you are not or have never been a active member of the Revelution then you will not and can not know what it is all about untill you free your mind first. All faith in europe must be removed from the mind and the African who is absolutely 100% dis-satistied emerges as the true Revolutionary because it is time for a change. Most of us don't believe that fat meat is greasy so it is impossible to know and understand the reality of the changes that are in motion especially when one is not ready for "Change" but is still looking for that "Pie in the Sky" that has been promised by the Enemy who controls your Spiritual life and every thing else that you love to hate. The true "Revolutionary" is not going to tell you any thing that you don't know for yourself...because you are not ready yet and will become dangerus to yourself and others. Revolution is not a game that you can start and then later think you can do something else short of selling out. The "Revolutionary" is one who knows the "Power" of "Organization" ... Do you??

    Ase`

Note: Only a fool would step out of line and identify him or her self as a leader so that the enemy can pick that one off to stop the movement twards African (Revolution) Liberation*

There have been some very interesting answers to this question. When we define who a revolutionary is our perception of the word and it what it is varies. As Brother Keita mentioned in his thread the word "Revolutionary" comes from the word "Revolution" which comes from the word "Revolve" which as the brother said simply means "change". When talking about a person as a "Revolutionary" by definition they is no different than a "Revolter". The difference is the vision we put behind the word. When we think of revolution we think of replacing something old with something new and different. However the problem is new and different may not be better. For a change of thought we simply need to drop the "r" and we have "Evolution". "Evolution" by definition adds an extra element to the situation. Not only is somethng changing or being changed into something different but the end product is better than it was. Therefore we the question becomes is it enough to be a "Revolutionary". Again it depends on the situation, new and different are not alway better. So I say instead of being a "Revolutionary" we must become "Evolutionary" to yield definate positive change because when it is all said and done the only thing that matter is a change for the better...

    Peace....

    Emotive Rants achieve nothing.

Did you read this part of the post?

Where are our visionaries? The facts are that this man's vision has helped to nurture Bill Gates into becoming the wealthiest man on the Planet, so what is wrong with asking our elite to pick up the ball and make the play for us they way he has done so spectacularly for them? Instead we're trying to compete in a hostile environment with no help or guidance from the top, just criticism.

Instead our totally dysfunctional elite is easily the most inept in the USA if our so hopeless lobby is anything to go by.

I truly can’t think of any apart from Marcus Garvey and Eric Williams with Jessie Jackson and Farrakhan the only living contenders and they don’t have the necessary knowledge of business or resources.
