it screams late seventies, early eighties.
it speaks to a time when we owned businesses that we, as a people, supported. it also speaks to a time when we came together as a people...and rejoiced in our blackness. there are many other connotations, negative and positive, that could be applied to it, but that's what I see.
i like it.....
While it is a nice piece.....the artist is actually showing you "ladies" all into themselves while there are two neglected kids in the foreground.
the kids are not neglected.....
Really! To whom do they belong?
do you have children?
3, and they belong to their parents and not to a tribe. A barbershop or a beauty salon is no place for toddlers to be running around loose or unattended.
each child has an adult nearby. BTW : it is a work of art, not a instruction diagram.
lastly, i was once that child. i survived.
