The input received so far is right on point. As a natural, I'm always searching natural oils to condition/moisturize my hair. I found the following tips and thought I'd share, with all ingredients in your kitchen;
Kitchen Chemistry
You can use ingredients from your kitchen as hair conditioners. You can easily give yourself a hot oil treatment or a mayonnaise based hair mask. Natural hair conditioners leave your hair feeling soft and smooth.
Hot Oil Treatment
There is a variety of vegetable oils or butters that you can use on your hair as a deep conditioning treatment. All you do is put as much oil in a baggie that you think will cover your hair. Really short hair may only need a teaspoon while longer hair may need 2 tablespoons or more.
Heat the oil by adding hot water to a mug. Add the teaspoon to a baggie and close the baggie securely. Dip the baggie in the hot water. When the oil is sufficiently heated, paint the oil onto your hair using a household paintbrush.
Paint The Oil On Hair With Paintbrush
Painting the oil on will avoid drenching your head and hair with your chosen oil. Some people only paint the hair starting a few inches away from the scalp or they paint starting from the roots, depends on the damage. When your hair is covered evenly with oil, wrap a plastic bag over your hair. Wrap a towel around your hair. The plastic bag will keep the oil from getting soaked into the towel. Wrapping the head and hair will keep the oil treatment warm so it will continue to penetrate the hair shaft. You can wash the oil out after a half hour or leave it on overnight. You may need one or two shampoos to remove any heaviness.
Mayonnaise, Yogurt Or Conditioner Base
Mayonnaise or yogurt can be used alone or you can add other ingredients to either conditioner base ingredient. If you do not want to either ingredient, you can dress up your current conditioner with natural ingredients. Mayonnaise and yogurt are acidic which will remove residue from hair.
