A hot oil hair treatment, homemade or store-bought, can be an inexpensive luxury with a variety of benefits.

Hot oil treatments come in two varieties, oil that is heated in either the microwave or stovetop, or a package that is immersed in hot water. Either variety will grant the same end results ? conditioned hair.

Everyday environmental issues, including temperature changes, pollution and humidity, as well as regular brushing, and the use of hair products such as curlers, steamers, straighteners and dryers, can result in damaged hair. Brittle or dry hair can result from environmental issues, over cleansing or product use; breakage or split ends can result from the use of hair products to achieve the desired style. No one is immune ? dry or damaged hair simply is a part of life.

Hot oil treatment is used to give hair moisture as it gives the look of conditioned hair without having to condition every day. If you have damaged or dry hair as a result of such thins as coloring, blow-drying, straightening, or other styling factors, than a hot oil treatment for hair may be good for your hair . It most often makes hair look more healthy.

How it works , generally with a hot oil treatment for hair, they are used once a week. The bottle of oil is heated by putting the bottle in hot water for an extended period of time. The conditioning treatment of the hair gives more strength and body to the hair. The hot oil can help repair damaged and weak hair as every strand gets the treatment it needs instantly when the oil is applied

How to use it , after heating the tube of oil in the water, generally for a minute or so, you can message the hot oil treatment into your wet hair. Massage all the oil thoroughly in the hair so that all the hair will be able to be exposed to the hot oil. Many times people that use hot oil treatments do not make sure that all their hair is exposed and this can cause weakness to those areas of the hair. After this is done, you can rinse the hair and the scalp thoroughly under the running water. After the hot oil treatment is done processing, shampoo your hair

Oils , Africa's best herbal oil w/ginseng.....I myself use this i like the lightness and how it feels
    Olive oil............Organix coconut oil
Macadamia nut oil and there are the homemade oils you can mix , your hair should stay moist doing the hot sunmmer months hot oil treatments is health and serve as an food for the hair and scalp.

    The input received so far is right on point. As a natural, I'm always searching natural oils to condition/moisturize my hair. I found the following tips and thought I'd share, with all ingredients in your kitchen;

    Kitchen Chemistry
You can use ingredients from your kitchen as hair conditioners. You can easily give yourself a hot oil treatment or a mayonnaise based hair mask. Natural hair conditioners leave your hair feeling soft and smooth.

    Hot Oil Treatment
There is a variety of vegetable oils or butters that you can use on your hair as a deep conditioning treatment. All you do is put as much oil in a baggie that you think will cover your hair. Really short hair may only need a teaspoon while longer hair may need 2 tablespoons or more.

Heat the oil by adding hot water to a mug. Add the teaspoon to a baggie and close the baggie securely. Dip the baggie in the hot water. When the oil is sufficiently heated, paint the oil onto your hair using a household paintbrush.

Paint The Oil On Hair With Paintbrush
Painting the oil on will avoid drenching your head and hair with your chosen oil. Some people only paint the hair starting a few inches away from the scalp or they paint starting from the roots, depends on the damage. When your hair is covered evenly with oil, wrap a plastic bag over your hair. Wrap a towel around your hair. The plastic bag will keep the oil from getting soaked into the towel. Wrapping the head and hair will keep the oil treatment warm so it will continue to penetrate the hair shaft. You can wash the oil out after a half hour or leave it on overnight. You may need one or two shampoos to remove any heaviness.

    Mayonnaise, Yogurt Or Conditioner Base
Mayonnaise or yogurt can be used alone or you can add other ingredients to either conditioner base ingredient. If you do not want to either ingredient, you can dress up your current conditioner with natural ingredients. Mayonnaise and yogurt are acidic which will remove residue from hair.

Oil doesn't really add moisture because oil doesn't contain water. What it does is coat the hair shaft, sealing the moisture within the hair's cuticles, thus the reason for doing it while your hair is wet.

Heat causes the hair's cuticles expand, making it easier to absorb the water and hold onto more of the oil, thus the reason for getting it hot.
