anyway, yes, we should always be peaceful, courteous, respectful, and obey the law. however, we also have the right to defend ourselves against anyone putting their hands on us. what that "defence of self" looks like, depends on the manner in which they put their hands on us. it may not mean killing someone; it may only mean telling them to step back. that's a call that has to be made in the context of the assault. for example, to kill someone because they stepped on your shoes, may not be considered "in defence of self."
