Black People Politics : What Are Your Concerns And Criticisms Of Today's Black Leaders Being Based On??

Good question Chuck. I think there is a lack of honesty in Black leadership in a few forms.

1. People that have different than main stream views are labeled coon or Uncle Tom. This stifles the exchange of ideas. Only hurts us. In the 1800s, Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman had serious disagreements on the way the underground railroad operated. Neither resorted to name calling. Douglass wrote about it in his bio holding Tubman in high esteem.

2. We have gotten away from personal responsibility and now focus on the govt. Throughout US Black history, it was evident: Blacks were independent even in the worst odds. We have traded our independence for govt dependence and no one has the guts to discuss this. I think its dishonest that we narrow our perspectives and talking points to what is safe and widely accepted.
