You can bet the CIA has their fingers in the pie somewhere in that mess if not directly in Venezuela then it's on the Columbia border areas do'n some rabble rousing. Even a cursory glance pass the main stream media gives a fuller picture of what is happening down there.
Couple of 'small things' stick out; whether or not the government mismanaged the monies or misallocated the priorities or over reached for ideals (or however you want to say it) when the price of oil was high it cannot be denied their real problems started when the US started to use it's muscle first with a blockade on sale of certain products from both the US and our toady international trade partners (that's why they don't have the parts for the oil refinery to keep it really working) and (that's why the biggest oil reserve in the world didn't have the fuel for the backup generators to keep most of the electrons flowing after 'someone' hacked into the computer systems) . From a goods blockade it was an easy step to total economic sanctions and seizing all the outside monies that were held and owed them thereby freezing any assets beyond their borders. (that small bit of pocket change only amounts in the billions) Even now anything Citgo sells those monies never see Venezuela as they are frozen here.
Then we have this neoliberal boot licker that's a wanna-be leader......who before all this got rolling 81% of the population had never heard of and wouldn't have vote for if they had and probably still wouldn't, but of course it is of note he isn't calling for any new elections. Hmmm, I wonder why. I ran across somewhere (and if I have to I'll find it) someone had a run down on his creds which if memory serves was at George Washington U. studying his political sciences from someone who was active in various 'enterprises' in South America during the Reagan years. And studied economics from either a sitting member or a once chair member if not the ex-head of the IMF.
Ahem I wonder what he plans to do with the country if this coup succeeds.

ogoun, You know on your Socialist paycheck you couldn't afford to take anyone out to dinner. Dinner is something people under Socialist domination have trouble putting together. Show me one place where a Socialist government has empowered the people. Name it. Name one nation where Socialism has saved it in the end. Our Constitution when government lives up to it is what keeps the people free. You know what I like, when one has facts there is no need to fall back to name calling. So without further time spent, I leave our two arguments pro and con Socialism up to those who read to decide. Regarding your snorts attacking me 00000000

You mean like the facts of 7 mil or closer to 8 mil illegal aliens having purchased weapons? Those kind of facts?
So far the only 'FACTS' from you are nothing but hyperbole that you can never back up but only repeat more of the same psycho-babble or deflection to something else without ever owning a single thing you've said.....just move on in another direction.
Farther you never have or give any constructive contribution but are more then willing to wander off into some irrelevance when you get either tired of squirming or sweating too much when your various glittering generalities and hyperboles get called into question.

Just for the record willa I did as you suggested and went back to page 39 and did a little review with that handy propaganda list at hand and checked off the list as I read through the page. I was going to do the same at the next page but it became too boring, I'd already had 2/3's checked off. And the printed version of that list runs to six pages. And I used only page one and two......it got boring.

So say something worth while. Just for a change.

PS
listen to more Bob Dylan
Maybe Masters of War would a good start.
