Five radio stations that play black music, three of which are black owned, will no longer be playing our music. WHAMO in Pittsburg, which has been black owned for over 60 years, sold out to Catholic Services, as a direct result of being refused a hearing under Rep. John Conyers (D) from Detroit. He convinced all the blacks on his committee to vote with him to move the bill to the full house. If passed, this bill will result in a tax on all music stations. Of which, only half of the proceeds will go to the artists that was it's intended target. The rest will go to the record companies. Many of whom, have historically denied payments to the same artists. Representative Conyers has steadfastly refused to even have a hearing with the black owned stations who had predicted that they would all but cease to exist. Besides WHAMO's parent owner selling it's three stations, Radio One has had to lay off workers and cut back hours in this bad economy. They have openly stated they will have to eliminate all talk and gospel radio. Moreover, they would also have to cut back further on staff to pay the tax.

Is this the end of our contol of our music???? :qqb010: :?:

They just did something about "Black media" on "Like It Is" with Gil Nobel this past Sunday. What became clear is that there is a world wide fear of our people having our own information outlet....especially if it does not promote the agenda of others. They spoke on the political effect, the educational effect and the effect it was having on the consciousness of our up and coming youth who are far more receptive to information than those before them.

They mentioned how there was a time when you could turn to

    "Black America"

    "Tony Browns Journal"

    "Like it is"

"America's Black Forum"...and a few more I've forgotten. Now Gil Nobel is all that's left. When it comes to Black radio it gets even worse as there is a national agenda to close us down. This is where we have to understand that the world has no intention of our people "having for ourselves what they have for themselves". How fast would an exclusive anti-white hate web site stay up?...I often wonder....and yet we already know that the "anti-black ones are up and have been up for some time with no problem...and with financial support at that! We Got To Wake Up!!

Time to start writing congressmen. And media outlets. Every time we start making progress, they start trying to control our information sources or shutting them down
