(I had told someone that i would not write a poem about the tragedy for there were so many already but this was burning in my heart so forgive me for going agianst my own words.)

    Were you there?

Were you there when the lives spoke of pain as
they danced into the heavens on wings of terror?
Were you there to see the falling bodies
before you heard their terrible screams?
Were you there to see our life, as we know it
stolen by few whose purpose was to instill fear
in the most fearless country to ever be formed?

    Were you there?

Were you there to watch the innocent become
unwanted martyrs in a land of the free and brave who
masterminded the eradication of the same virus that
Infiltrated our defenses when we let our guard down?

Were you there to see how reality TV has desensitized
a nation to the point that the ones who supposed to
proclaim the news profess the sad, horrible truth that
“Hollywood would have made it look more realistic.”

Well how realistic could it be to see a plane fly into a building
and to realize that the people on board never had a chance?
To know that above the flames are thousands more whose exit has been
eliminated by corrupt attempts to terrorize our lives and their only hope
of survival is to jump 100 stories into the wings of angels waiting below?

    WERE…YOU…THERE?

Were you there to watch the world as it crumbled before our eyes wondering
what we’ve done to receive such hatred only to turn around and reach out to
those who look like terrorist, walk like terrorist, born of the same country as
terrorist, could be classified as terrorist and yet the real terrorist, (the ones who
Bush proclaimed to hide in the dark) could be sitting next to you at work
    Making threats to any business with an ARAB looking name;

    Were you there?

Were you there to see a country unite not to hate but to find ways
To reach out to the many who arrived during the first alarm only to
Lose their lives as they risk their lives to save the lives of those whose
    sole purpose that morning was to get through another week of work;

    Tell me, were you there?

Well I was there and not in New York City for when I opened my eyes I see
the fear in the faces of those who walk by, drive by, skate by, smile by, cry by
and all The while I look to the sky and wonder when the next plane I see might
carry the next attempt to prove who the real terrorists are in this world…

This country has finally embraced love for one another as we work to rebuild the city
But here’s a question to those in the struggle to build peace…

    Where Were You?

    Mr. D

    I was there
in my office space hanggin on the 12th floor
looking ......watching ......wishing it wasn't true
feeling the emotional pain as flying planes
claim the twins......i was there in spirit feeling
the heat off NewYorks street and heard cries
of wo-man & man as they plunge
my heart stoped for afew seconds tears rolled
my home base SPRINGFIELD called saying shut down
headed home but my spirit was still there
yes i was there watching helplessly:(

    I was there in spirit

As others I'm sure, crying helplessly and feeling helpless yet, anger raging inside, want to help, take that 8 hour drive but...I sit in shock and in fear.

People are soo insensitive. "Hollywood?" Maybe if it had been one of their loved ones, they'd think differently.

Also, there was a woman on the news here in Buffalo crying saying, what God? Who are people praying to? how could God allow soo many people to die?"

    I am left speechless...

before we can begin the change we must first know where we are. I was there. praying for the loss, the bereaved, the shocked, the hurt. I was there, sharing God to those who wondered how He could do such a thing. I was there not wondering how this could happen but what will be the recourse. I was there as GOD allowed me to be...

and i was in Baltimore the whole time...

    thanks for the read...

    No I wasn't there....

I didn't see.. the bodies fall.. I didn't hear the screams.. I didn't go to work in the building that day and I don't live in New York.. But I cried at the torment that others has brought down upon our country.. I fear the unknown which is questioned by us all... I prayed for the hurt and the pain of those who are suffering and for the more suffering that is about to come.. I pray for those who weren't there; whose friend, mother, cousin, sister or brother who has not been found and i pray for those families who lack one less individual that means the world to them. I wasn't their to feel their pain.. but i saw their pain.. it rang in my emails, on my radio, through my coworkers mouths, in their eyes.. in their emotions.. Me spiritually inclined within me.. No.. I wasn't their physically... and I thank God I wasn't... but thankful that he allowed me to be their spiritually...

    A very thought-provoking piece D

..we were all there....together we will share this history. Perhaps some of us saw the light beyond the smoke and ashes..and we humbled ourselves on bended knees. Perhaps others turned a blind eye and reasoned that those days events 'don't affect me'. It doesn't really matter if this is World War Three..there is only ONE world. Acts of war measure our humanity. We are a collective body of 'Man'....we have the power to self destruct or celebrate ourselves on this earth....inevitably...this soil...will be our legacy...

thanks hunter but realize more and more everyday that we as society is still there and now we are afraid to move on past there and see not where we are but where we should be...in the hands of God...
