Words are underestimated
Taken for granted by those educated
Simply communicated
Debated and stated
Words are used, abused
For all the wrong reasons
Misguided by social rules
Crucified like Jesus
Individuals lose sight
Of the power of speech
People ignoring the reach
Of what poetz try to reach
Words get slung
Like bullets in a conflict
Directed to be corrupted
By those who can't comprehend it
Sit in the halls of Congress
And with the right phrase
A war can be launched
Designed to decimate a race
But I dare to retaliate
And oppose the tides that hate
Dare to question
The agendas that eradicate
Words to me, my friend
Are more than just syllables
Words can be more potent
Than anything imaginable
With this pen I paint a picture
Images and scenes
Like paint on a canvas
So rich it's almost obscene
Whether I paint from a can
Or scribble out a rhyme
