i walk across the desert sand
no water on my lips no food in my hand
my thirst so great my gait does fail
when upon an oasis, i sight two wells
too far apart for weary feet
think fast - which well holds the nectar sweet

    the first
perfectly formed no mars upon its face
yet i glance beside it noting nothing
grows near or at its base

    the second
not perfectly formed it bricks do crumple and fall
    yet beside its fallen bricks
lives a fig tree strong and tall

    with confidence
i run quickly towards the one i know
can quench my thirst quiet my pain
and unselfishly allow me to go

on with my walk across the desert sand
with water on my lips and food in my hand
