Today I recieved your wedding invitation
Just reading it gave me heart palpitations

I know that we said our farewells long ago
But till this moment I didn't realize I hadn't let go

Let go of the hope that again you and I would be a we
But this is a solid proof that you have moved on without me

With my lips I told you I wanted the absolute best for you
And I told you that your happiness was considerably overdue

I said I wanted to see you happy even if I wasn't with me
But I said words that I trully did not want to come to be

So how do I swallow this cup that is before me
Tell me how to smile through the tears and let it be

They say if you love something set it free
And if it is meant to be I will come back to thee

So I set you free knowing to you I wasn't Ms. Right
Hoping that one day you would see me in a new light

To you and the world I put on my happy face
But secretly I prayed for some Amazing Grace

Your invitation must be my answer from the Almighty
For I know without a doubt what is for me is for me

And if we were truly meant to be joined as one
Then there would of been nothing anyone could of done

So this time my friend I sincerely wish you God's Favor
And I earnestly pray the love you all have never waivers

i think i just heard that song... "congratulations... i thought it should've been me..."

so mature is the person who can take that invitation as a sign from God to let go as opposed to being bitter. more people should take a page from that book...

if mr. meant to be sent me a invitation to his wedding... i'd be too busy trying to pick myself up off the floor to think rationally...

    a mature write... nice flow..

This well posed piece read as though you had weathered those stages of grief and came out on the other side. I don't see feeling hurt as being bitter, I see it as being human. To deny those feelings, does no good, they will just come out in some other form. Best thing is to experience the pain, but don't wallow in it. Great to see you smiling poet.

    :spin: Oh My Goodness...:spin:

I love a good reality poem with a story line and this story song with beautiful rhythm all the way through to the very last sentence. A simple poet you are not! Your talent is well above the average because of what God has put inside of that pen of yours. I hope you never stop writing gurl because you really got something here.
