So, all my women who love to dress their face up, so to speak; here's a few questions for you.

Is there anything already in your life or that could be in your life that would make you put away the make up forever? Such as, if a man that you favored asked you to do it? Or if one of your family members gave their say against it?

And if you would do it for them, would you keep to it through and through or wear it when they're not around or sleeping or something like that?

What are your reasons for wearing it in the first place?

Personally, I don't wear make up anymore; I do think I look better without it, doesn't look like I'm trying so hard to be pretty. I used to wear it because I thought it looked soooo cute! But I remember most of all now how it made me break out so much, gross! And also, when a few black men said they actually prefered women without make-up, I thought they were playing around, so I didn't listen to that advice! Eventually, I quit, and my family's split. Some like the make up, some don't.

    What about you?:SuN011:

Thanks for the input. I don't think we need it either. It feels...gunky. For me, at least. And looking back at pictures of myself with make up, I now think that I look like some clown's escort. *sigh

I don't wear that much makeup...I wear eye makeup at the most...And maybe lip gloss...but I can go without makeup without having any reason...My skin is pretty clear that I don't need all the extra.

I wear makeup (eye makeup) because I like it...no real reason other then it accentuates my eyes...

Lip gloss because I like how it tastes (the flavorful kind)...plus it makes my lips look more kissable..

And lets get one thing str8...I'm not changing for a man over no dayum makeup...I don't change for people...I change for the best for me...and if he has an issue with my makeup, then I'm not the one for him...Soooooo long!!!

And I never had any family member ever try and tell me to change my makeup...I might give them the stink eye if they tried it.

And I don't sleep with makeup on...if I do it was because I was too tired and passed out like that.

I don't wear any make up. I'm working on my face so that I never have to.

Alright, alright! It was just an example!!!:p

I've heard many black women here say make up is for white women, thus they don't wear any; is that where you live also with black women, or is this just a local saying of my town? Actually, some of them do wear make up who say this, but usually one thing like eye liner or lip gloss, to acentuate the eyes or lips, sorta like you. lol

For me, it's nuffin AT ALL; when I say none, I mean it!

What do you mean, working on your face?

And the Q posed to MsInterpret, I pose for you also; do black women say make up is for white women where you live?

Aww...well good for you. *hands you a cookie*

"Makeup is for white people" (says the person who tried to go out and get makeup and only found it in the shade for lighter complected people and was upset)...And no, I've never heard that...some black women NEED makeup. A lil BB Cream to clear all them dark marks up. There is a lot of makeup out here that is made specially for women who are black now of days..before they only had makeup (foundation and cover-up) for lighter complexions....

Makeup isn't meant to be worn as a mask...it's meant to enhance not transform you into another person.

I have no qualms with anyone who wears no makeup or too much...It's not my business nor my place to tell them what they can and should('nt) wear on their face.

My mom wears makeup....the most she wears is a foundation...but that's her...my grandmother, just lipstick...i got friends who wear it all...and some who don't...its a preference...the only issue i have is if the person takes it all off and I don't know who you are.

I had a homegirl who did it....I saw here out with no makeup on, and she ran up to me and started talking and I didn't know who she was till I squinted my eyes.

    -deuce deuce-

I use two home made scrubs for my lips and face and I even have tried a turmeric mask, but didn't get any real results. I don't want to use harsh chemicals on my skin, but I'm thinking about a low percentage chemical peel. I also use SPF to lower sun damaging effects to my skin. Also drinking a lot of water to help clear skin and I was also thinking of a colonic. Also eating properly helps with skin as well other things that may be out-of-order. I try to use as much organic and natural products as possible in maintaining my body.
