    Weak and Weary

For the weak of heart whose life is query
A harried soul grows weak and weary
For in the day of relationship’s fall
When hearts are broken…one and all
And every happy smile dost cease
Leaving in its wake, no pain’s (relief)
And all those gathered to and fro
Swing low, my chariot, swing low

In the midst of midnight’s booming madness
The bobcat’s wail is full of sadness
The hoot owl sang its song of gloom
    “Hoot,” “Hoot,” goes the tune
And creepy crawlers of every kind
Begins a dance that’s truly divine
The crickets and bullfrogs are quick to join in
As mother nature lets go a little wind
To carry their chorus ‘cross the sassafras valley
    Their animal neighbors responding gladly
By morning the silence had come again
The hoot owl hooting…into a dying wind

This sadness bloomed across the land
Where joy once flourished, misery stands
For all of those whose life is query
A harried soul grows weak…and weary
