Black People : We must unite to defend our communities

Oppression is an objective human condition regardless of our subjective poitns of view.

Recognition of this objective condition does not necessarily correlate to a subjective viewpoint of victimization.

By the way, i do get the point you are making as i never refer as a victim of oppression or white supremacy. However my own subjectivism does not negate the existence of oppression and exploitation.

In my opinion we exploit ourselves now as opposed to the past, before the civil rights movement. We make self deprecating music, movies, TV shows ON OUR OWN and usually don't own the rights to any of it so we do so to chase the money that is given to us by others to show our negative side.

Again, i agree, for the most part. However, as i previously stated, this does not negate the objective realities of oppression, such as racial profiling, which is social and economic, which remain as barriers to the development and building of our communities.

Black folks have been systematically marginalized in this society. Its the effects of economic globalization. There are thousands of studies by white folks which will point this out. And it is not only Black folks. So unless we study how this marginalization has taken place we will not be capable of changing our reality.

Actually, our marginalization is the effect of exclusion as globalization transforms the international marketplace. However, because middle class black folks think they are 'free' they are not really aware of the barriers to upward mobility that exist which restrict the movement of the working poor and unemployed.

Think about it. The examples you used in the media are perpetrated by who? The intellectual elite and aspiring black petty-bourgeoisie. They are the producers while the masses are only consumers. If working class black folks used their purchasing power to pool resources together and invest, rather than spend, these blaxploitation artists would go into bankruptcy.

Ok so what's the solution? If we are subjected to racism at any turn and there is no way to stop racism what is the solution for our people? I keep trying to offer solutions and most people on this board bombard me with racism this racism that. We can't stop it so what do we DO as a solution and why keep bringing it up?

I don't mean to sound aggravated at you but I'm REALLY tired of our people talking about racism and exploitation. The existence of a half black president is proof that we CAN do anything we want to do if we stop viewing racism as a hurdle. Racism will NEVER end and even if it did people would find something else to be elitists/bigoted about so we need to stay focused on where we want to be and not how it was.

The existence of a half black president proves that half black people can do something to get ahead in this country and become president.

What if you're full black?

I have heard the Asians and Mexicans do things through the existence of something called a su-su or economic pot. Essentially, an informal investment club.

They work, and everybody takes their money and pool it into this pot. When it reaches a certain point, they take it do things with it, something as simple as buy a riding lawn mower or weed eater, or something more complex like a commercial building. They work form their own little business and work at that and throw more money into the pot for their families to use and send some back home for their family backhome to save and contribute to their own pot and make something there.

I'm hearing that it would never work with us because we don't trust each other.

Also, check out something called micro credit

Not sure if that would work here because the loans funds are so cheap or low they couldn't do much here.. Plus microcredit is not without it's problems

I was in a group that provided a savings of $ eared for a $ saved up to the 2 grand. I forget what they called it, but there was hope that the group would stay together and it turn into an investment group. We all got our funds and it disabanded.

Maybe that is something you can start with members of family like the immigrants do.
