    Peace and Blessings Sisters,

How can we continue to say that we want real men in our lives, but present fake stuff to them?

    Fake nails, fake hair, etc.

    How do we justify this?

Yes, we've been so tricked, that our God given stuff is not good enough to compete. That we have to chemically alter, ruin, damage, our own selves, to be beautiful ... yes, and that means, buying the white, asian, or indian folk's stuff ... to prop ours up.

The thing is though, all that stuff is coming off at some point.

I mean, Bruh Man gonna see yo' real stuff ... then what?

I remember years ago, when I wore make-up every day, I actually got to the place where I would not go to work without some make-up on. I mean, you really get caught up in believing that you are not pretty without the props. You become dependent upon seeing yourself that way, fake.

I aint just talk'n 'bout my Sisters ... i'm talk'n 'bout me too.

We're all fooling ourselves, teaching our babies to fool themselves.

Sister Linda ... given that I spent the vast majority of my life permed, the stat you present seems reasonable and reflective of that time period.

I don't know that it necessarily suggests that Brothers prefer it, or that I'll now be approached less, though I'd not be surprised if either were the case.

I'm of the opinion that we, Sisters, encourage a lot of what Brothers / Sons want, by the choices we make.

Sons want women (hopefully) like their Mothers, and if Momma has straight hair, he's gonna want his bride to have that too.

    Love You!

its not the quantity its the quality....

sure, you can get more men but are they the men that you want?
by wearing natural hair, you will get the better brothers.
    you don't want the others.

Men front too. Women may embellish their physical attributes but men make promises they know they have neither the intention or the ability to keep. It goes both ways.

Sister Bootzey and Brother Khasm ... i'm sure that Brothers are faking the funk on a few fronts, but am often reluctant to speak on them because it seems that the guidance and direction for Black Men, will be most effective coming from other Black Men. There are a few topics that I've intentionally stayed away from, biting at the bit, in anticipation of Brothers broaching them their own selves.

That's why you'll usually find me speaking to Sisters, about the issues that we face, as I think it's best coming from Sisters rather than Brothers.

Of course this doesn't always hold true, as sometimes we just gotta speak the truth, no matter who or what.

But when I can, i try to let things happen in a manner that may yield the most productive results.

Perhaps yall can start a thread on Brothers faking the funk (especially you Brother Khasm, considering the above).

There is surely need for improvement on all sides.

    Love You!
