    My people, WE ARE BLACK
Others may still choose to call us colored
I agree we come in many different shades
But we are not a piece of paper
    You do not color us
We do not make a rainbow
Though we’re beautiful in our many shades

We are not all welfare recipients
Even though others may classify us as such
Many of us are on the top rung of the ladder
    CEO’s, presidents, and vice presidents
And some of us on the bottom rung
    McDonalds, Chuck E Cheese, Wal-mart
But still trying to make a living
Surviving in a world that doesn’t want to see us succeed

Black is the struggle complete with endurance and dignity
Black is strong, proud and unified
We are not to accept labels
    Colored, ******, negro
    We’re better than that
    My people, WE ARE BLACK

    ...and it is beautiful.

If there were any other culture I could be, it's black...whether it be AmeriKKKanized Afrikan, Jamican Afrikan, Haitian Afrikan, etc., it's still Afikan, just born in the Western hemisphere, BLACK.

Keep 'em comin', sister, cuz I'm totally diggin' your thoughts.
