WAYDE VAN NIEKERK: I’M CHASING USAIN BOLT’S OLYMPIC RECORDS

“Usain Bolt is motivating and inspiring me to want to try and do what he’s done,” van Niekerk says. “He’s set out such high goals for us to chase. He’s definitely someone I look up to to feed off and try and achieve what he’s achieved, and obviously, on that journey, if I have the opportunity to run against him, it would be more than just a blessing and an honor. He has single-handedly taken track and field to a different level and I will always have respect towards him and look up to him as someone who has been an idol to the sports —and a clean idol.”

    Peace,

After watching him in the Olympics I'd say he has an outside shot at the 200 WR and probably no chance at 100. Middle distance sprinters usually don't have the breakaway speed to handle the 100 effectively. What he did in the 400 was insane and if I remember correctly he did that in lane 8. I'll be keeping my eye on him.

    Peace

I love track and field. I was a sprinter myself back in the day. Didn't stick with it though. My favorite athletes were Dennis Mitchell and Gayle Devers. I must say however I was rooting for Usain. Such an awesome athlete. I hope this young man does break his record though. I can't imagine anyone running faster so it would be great to see someone out run the wind.

As someone who has never even broken 50 seconds for 400 metres watching Wayde run so far below 44 seconds was CRUSHING, people who have never competed as adults truly don’t KNOW just how fast that was, do they?

I've never run a sub 11 seconds 100 meters so can you imagine how I felt watching Wayde do 4 sub 11 second 100 meters back to back, but I'm not convinced that Usain is finished [I can see him having a couple of years out, then coming back for the CRAZY money he can make for being at the 2020 Olympics], are YOU?

Just imagine how fast/far these 2 SUPER athletes can [both be eclipsed by some surprise athlete raising his game] push each other?

Isn’t ANYONE who genuinely believes they are not programmed
graphically illustrating that their programming is COMPLETE?
